Barb is such a fantastic guide! We throughly enjoyed every moment of our bike tour with her in beautiful Santa Monica. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area whether you have ever riden an electric bike or not! It was easy to learn and so nice to have the option not to pedal if you needed a little break. Thanks Barb for providing an A+++++ experience!

What a great adventure we had with Barb. We saw we’re Barbie lived, the old location of another Hurst mansion. Many houses where famous people have stayed with great stories that Bard told. We saw all the homeless camps a long Venice Beach, the murals, canals of Venice and muscle Beach! so much fun stuff right here under your nose that you never would know without barb as your tour guide! The bikes were awesome too!

Booked this bike tour after reading the terrific reviews on TA. Parked at the Santa Monica Pier and walked to the bike rental establishment. It was a LONG walk. They said it was a mile but clearly was more than that. The owners were very nice and we signed all the necessary paperwork. Then came the bike "assessment". My daughter has not rode a bike in 7 years and just could not grasped the electric concept and after 5 minutes it was determined that she was not "fit" to ride. This is a mom and pop run buisness. Our tour guide was to be the owner. This was paid in full $118.00 for two riders. The owner elected to only refund half our monies. I thought this was bad business ethics. They did not "hire" someone to come in and be our tour guide. It cost them zero monies out of their pocket except for the 5 minutes assessment. Bad judgement in my opinion:(

First let me respond to the financial issue. This was a definite misunderstanding. Our memory is that we had offered a full refund and that it was actually your suggestion to pay half. The minute we became aware that you were unhappy with this arrangement a full refund was issued. Your $118 has been returned. I apologize for the miscommunication. Second, everyone is disappointed when the electric bike does not suit a rider (the rider, their companions AND everyone at Pedal... or Not). Yes, we are a small business; our tours are small too, just 2-5 people for the Semi-Private Guided tour. Every client is important. We hate turning away business. Safety must be our first priority. Your daughter was clearly uncomfortable on the bike and seemed relieved when it was suggested that this might not be the best activity for her. Again, it was simply a matter of safety and we need to make the decisions because a rider often does not want to disappoint their companions and really does not know exactly what the ride involves. Our tours are best for comfortable bike riders. We have very clear directions on our website for suggested parking that is just a block away from our shop. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your day in Santa Monica. Congratulations that your basketball team won the game.

This ride was a brilliant way to see Santa Monica & Venice. We didn't want to spend all day there as we were going further up the coast for the afternoon, so riding along with Barb for the morning was perfect.

We did the 9am ride which I would say is the best time to ride as it isn't too hot and not too busy on the bike paths. Before going out Stephen explained the controls and made us practice.....having not ridden a bike in many years I was a bit wobbly to start but soon got the hang of it again!

I did a mixture of peddling and motoring, the motor is great for a quick burst of speed or if your legs start aching a bit or if you just don't want to peddle at all!! Brilliant fun!

We stopped at various points along the way with Barb explaining some history and facts about each spot, these are things we wouldn't have known had we just hired a bike ourselves and went out. Barb takes lots of photos along the way and you can ask to stop if you see a photo op you want to take advantage of.

There were only 4 of us on the ride which was perfect (the max is 5).

I would highly recommend doing this ride - great if you have a couple of hours and want to see a snapshot of the area and learn about the history and also a great start if you want to do further exploring afterwards as you'll know where everything is.

Just do it.

We are a family of 5. We chose this particular tour due to the use of electric bikes as I was unsure my daughters would cope with peddling so much on their own. And we also wanted to see what it was like to ride electric bikes.
We had a fantastic tour with our guide. I cannot remember her name but she was so cool. Very safety conscious, very informative, an excellent photographer and overall lovely person.
Everywhere we stopped she had interesting stories about landmarks, buildings or about the beach itself. We went along the front of Santa Monica all the way down to Venice Beach which was an eye opener. The Venice canals were cool and we learnt a lot about those too.
We really enjoyed our tour and the bikes were very comfortable. The lady who does the bookings was so lovely and they really do run a professional operation. We would do it again and we highly recommend this tour company.

When my son announced he wanted to go to LA for Spring Break, I started booking things in advance (Disney, Universal Studios, Warner Brothers Tour, dinner reservations, etc). Once in town, we started doing all the typical tourist things (Walk of Stars, Hollywood Sign, Wax Museum, etc) but I realized we were going to have a free afternoon in a few days and gave thought to driving up to Malibu. Instead however I stumbled upon the Pedal Or Not Bike Tour which begins very close to the hotel we were staying in Marina del Rey. Neither of us being experienced bike riders gave pause to consider the drive to Malibu instead, but my son really wanted to do something outside and on or near the beach so I called Barb. It was very last minute and we were fortunate she was able to squeeze us in the next afternoon. We did the afternoon tour with one other couple and my son and I both had the best time ever! These bikes are amazing and so easy to use. Barb is incredibly knowledgeable and gave an wonderful, yet very relaxing tour of Santa Monica Pier, Venice and Muscle Beach and the Canals. After the tour was over we did a little shopping on Abbot Kinney Blvd then found one of the famed Kogi Taco trucks for a snack. Back at the hotel the kid gives me the biggest hug and says "this was the best day of the whole trip - THANKS DAD!" And it was....it really was! Thank you Barb - you and your fabulous bike tour gave my son and I memories we will have forever!

The tour guide tailors the bike ride so that you see the attractions that you are most interested in. Using electric bikes was also a unique feature which made this tour stand out. If you get tired of pedalling or choose not to pedal at all, you can use the electrical power to cruise down the bike lines of Santa Monica. They also provide a complimentary bottle of water for each rider.

I'd recommend a morning ride so that it's not that busy and potentially you get to see more.

We're a family of 5 - kids aged 11-15. We all LOVED this. It's always hard to find something for all of us to do that will make everyone happy. No one could agree on a museum....this was perfect! Barbara and Steve, the owners, were patient, helpful, kind and informative. Barbara led our tour for 2.5 hours and even settled which of my 2 kids got to ride behind her for how long (they were fighting to be in 2nd place)! It is really a tour that anyone with any biking experience can take - young or old. The electric option allows you to bike for the entire time without putting in effort. I had never seen the Venice Canals - which was lovely to see, and biking through Venice and Santa Monica was great!!

My friend and I were booked for a tour in August and we loved every minute of the tour. Barbara took us around Santa Monica and Venice on a sunny Saturday afternoon. She is full of great information and history on the area. The bike ride is definitely low impact and when you need a bit of a break the electric bike option is so easy to use. Wish I had that on my own bike. I would definitely chose to go on one of these tours again - it was so easy cycling around the streets and the beaches.
