We spent a lovely evening in this venue. Great wines available by the glass or bottle. We spent our time noshing, sipping and having great conversations with the staff. Be sure to have them call the bike taxi to take you home. This was the icing on the cake. Thanks to all.

Found this place at the end of the Santa Cruz pier with great views of the harbour. Enjoy a couple of flights of wine and a combination cheese and meat plate of local product while relaxing on a comfortable couch overlooking the bay.
Sommalier was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines.

We stumbled onto this place on a short visit to Santa Cruz. Wow!!! Amanda was amazing host, and the wine and appetizers were so tasty!! We ordered truffles tater tots and egg bites, and they were fantastic with the wine. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this place and Amanda made it extra special for us.

Sometimes "wine-tasting" in a touristy destination can be a bit sketchy, but Vino Prima is the real deal. They offer an extensive collection of wine (by the glass and flight) and a knowledgeable staff whose recommendations were spot-on. Even as self-proclaimed wine-snobs (or at least wine-nerds), we were happy to discover a new Petite Sirah from a small family winery we had never heard of before. The interior is also very cozy...we sat on a sofa as we tasted, and even had fun sorting through some of the games that were left out for guests. Will definitely swing by again next time we're in Capitola!

We decided to check the wine bar out after dinner. We like seeing local people who know the wine around them. We ordered to inexpensive flights, and then asked about some specific wines, and they really knew their stuff. The person helping us brought a couple of “tastes” over for the wines we asked about, and left with three bottles from wineries we weren’t familiar with.
Unlike many of the wine bars we’ve been to in other places, Bininger Prima was unpretentious, warm and helpful. I’ll be back again on our next visit to Santa Cruz.

My Husband and I stumbled upon this place after having dinner on the wharf. The bartender was knowledgeable, pleasant and genuinely enthusiastic. We also enjoyed pleasant conversations and a few glasses of wine with a few of the other patrons there that night. It felt like a family atmosphere. We love a dry red Zin and we tasted and bought a bottle of "Fiddletown" old Vine Zinfandel. I don't write many reviews but this was a really enjoyable place for our one night in Santa Cruz.

Libel experience having a great bottle of Foley Johnson Chardonnay recommended by Stacey with a beautifully selected plate of salami and cheese that was an outstanding complement to the wine! A really secret find here in Santa Cruz with great prices!

At an upstairs venue on the Santa Cruz Wharf, Vino Prima is easy to overlook. Don't. They offer wine tasting from many of the fine wineries of the Central Coast, Santa Cruz Mountains, and Monterey regions in a relaxed atmosphere above the fray on the boardwalk below. Windows afford a view over the Beach Boardwalk and south toward Capitola. A friendly, knowledgeable staff will help you select wines by the glass, but they also offer flights if you want to sample an array of wines. Light fare is available too: various cheeses, salami, and olives. Vino Prima often has live music on weekend nights, and Wednesday nights are special events when different vinters comes to offer samples of their offerings (a fee event). Call ahead if you're not already on the wharf. Vino Prima is sometimes booked for private events.

This wine bar is on the second floor above the ice cream place on the Boardwalk. We were there in late March, but I imagine at the height of the summer season it would be lovely to sit up there and enjoy a lovely glass of wine.
The owner is really knowledgeable about CA wines. He also carries some local beers and other drinks as well. You can order small plates of cheese and crackers, etc. which is delightful.
The only reason it's not a 5 is that there is no outside seating. That would be a great addition!

Love this spot on the wharf! My husband and I enjoy the selections, while our daughter enjoys ice cream and watching the ocean. For us to enjoy a glass, takes about the same time for her to get her fill of alone time (they don't let children in). The owners are knowledgeable of their products. We always end up buying something. My husband LOVES the chocolate wine. It's worth a try but def not my taste... but if it gets him into a wine bar with me, I don't care what it takes :-) whatever your palate desires, you can probably find it here. A little wine oasis, overlooking the santa cruz boardwalk and ocean. Location, product and service can't be beat!
