This is a great little place. It seems to be geared towards kids but there were people of all ages there. We spent about an hour at the center. It's $8 for adults. It's educational. And you can pet a shark! They have some land behind the center, leading up to cliffs with amazing views.

We have lived in the Santa Cruz area for 11 years. The Seymour Center is one of the first places mentioned when guests are visiting. The Center is in a beautiful setting and it is worth a visit just to walk around the grounds adjacent to the center...but do go inside. In the center you will find many great exhibits... More

Visited with out of town friends and family and all were pleasantly surprised. The exhibits were well done and the docents (or equivalents) provided insight. It was a "laided back" experience that was well received, and the views were spectacular, even with an approaching storm. Although not extensive, the walks outside provided info on local plants and vegetation, an added... More

Great place for kids to see dolphins in a humane research facility. Folks can pet sharks, tide pool creatures such as sea stars and hermit crabs. Learn about conservation and the importance of reducing our carbon foot prints.

The marine discovery center is a fascinating place to visit. I really enjoyed being able to get right up close to whale skeletons, really gives you the sense of how incredibly large those creatures are.

This small facility on the Younger Marine Lab (UC) property is great for its small museum, hands-on exhibits, nice views, and amazing blue whale skeleton outside (lit up with Christmas lights in season). It's also available to rent for special occasions - I've attended 2 lovely weddings and several fundraiser events there with live music.

What a delightful place of wonder for all ages. Be awestruck by the largest skeleton of the largest mammal on earth, the Blue Whale. Visit the comfortably-sized marine museum with live marine specimens. Be sure to take the special tour of UCSC's marine lab where you may see living walruses or rare monk seals at play in the pools or... More

There is not much to see in this place beyond the whale skeleton which always impresses. Overall a nice little 30 minute visit.

This is a small "discovery center" with a few tanks, good child orientation in terms of overall size, but enough to keep an adult interested. When we were there on a Saturday, a number of young docents were tending the touch exhibits and walking around ready to answer questions. There is a chance to touch a swell shark, some starfish... This Museum is a hidden jewel next to the University of California’s Marine Lab at the end of Delaware St, just past Natural Bridges. It features an outside full-size blue whale skeleton called Ms Blue, that is decorated with small twinkle lights during the Christmas Holidays. There are volunteers who help explain the area and help with the tide-pool exhibit.... More
