Our daughter graduated from SCU and we were back with her son visiting for a Water Polo Tournament and she was able to walk us around the campus and show us how it has changed very dramatically. Every thing is green and beautiful. The main...More

Worth a quick walk through, or take the campus admissions tour. Check out the chapel. We did not go to the museum.

This large campus is located just north of San Jose and offers beautiful historic buildings, a classic Spanish Mission Church, and a free art museum. Near the church is an historic adobe wall built in 1833 by the Jesuit priests. The lovely flower gardens feature...More

Very nice campus. But every other word from everyone we came into contact with was "sustainability", without any practical concept of what the word meant. It was overbearing. My son was interested in engineering. But most of the tour was focused on things like houses...More

SCU is a must see campus. It’s small but worth taking an hour to stroll the grounds. The whole campus is beautifully landscaped. Flowers everywhere. Pro-tip: The campus is very flat and it’s easy to walk. Dress comfortably for the season as Santa Clara can...More

We did the campus tour and information session. The student tour guide was very enthusiastic and helpful. The campus had a lot of construction and remodeling- the new cafeteria and the engineering quad - but overall was a nice overview of the school. It was...More

Alot of activity during the summer! Students were walking around, there seemed to be some camp for elementary students, and the baseball team practiced during the early afternoon. I came here mainly for the mission and I wanted to see the museum next to it...More

San jose or San Francisco is the nearest airport. From SFO, you can take caltrain which has station just in front of University. Else you can take flight to SJ airport & then take a taxi to the university.

Santa Clara to Yosemite to Lake Tahoe Driving Suggestions? (1 Replies)
We are a family of 5, 2 parents and teens and have 7 full days to do this spring break trip. We arrive in SFO late Friday night and picking up our daughter at Santa Clara University. We want to see Yosemite (2-3 days) and ski South Lake Tahoe (3-4 days) the last week in March. Can anyone suggest a nice route with sights to see along the way? I understand one he main Yosemite roads is closed, so what would best route? Any suggestions at all for lodging and sights appreciated.

Hi slplb Use Google Maps to plan your route. Hwy 140 is probably your best option. The Hwy 120 exit via Groveland is currently closed for road repair so you'll also use 140 to exit the Park. You might want to enter via Hwy 41 to visit Mariposa Grove. Pop over to the Yosemite NP forum page for info about lodging (reservations absolutely required!) and itinerary planning. We have tons of info linked to the Top Questions & Itineraries in the upper right of that page. Post a question...More

Recommendations for Hotel in San Jose Area (3 Replies)
My daughter will be visiting San Jose State University, Santa Clara University and friends in Sunnyvale. We would like to use one hotel as a base camp. Can anyone recommend whether it is better to stay in San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, or some other location in the area?

Massachusetts wasn't the most logical forum to post that message in, LOL, but this *is* a site for travelers so... From what little I know about that part of the world, Mountain View and San Jose offer the most choices for accommodations. Los Gatos is a viable alternative, while for a top-drawer and restful stay you can't go wrong with Half Moon Bay even though it's an hour or so away. But seriously, please rewrite or copy/paste your message and put it under "California." There are...More
