Best fruit and veg market I've ever seen in January

What an amazing feast for the eyes, the nose and the palate. Such variety, such quality, and amazing value compared with Gelson's or Lazy Acres. Yes, their produce is good, but the farmers' market trumps them! And what friendly stallholders too.

The farmers market changes locations everyday, so be sure to check the schedule on their website. We visited on a Sunday morning, when it was in Goleta at the Camino Real Shopping Center. It wasn't that large (just a row of stalls), but they obviously aim for quality over quantity. In addition to fruits and vegetables, there are also flowers,... More

Beautiful way to start your Saturday in SB. Local farmers and growers selling veggies, almonds, dates, persimmons, flowers, cheese and some prepared offerings like Jams and salsa. Note that pets are not allowed in the market area. Most offerings are organic and the sellers happy to offer samples or help you make selections.

Only the San Francisco Ferry Building Market beats them for the market and San Luis Obispo for the fun atmosphere. Lots of variety, very high quality, numerous stands, friendly service. Always busy with local premium restaurants getting their produce. Great people watching of locals and out of town visitors. Musical artisans are also there show casing their talents. Check it... Wide variety of excellent produce, some honey and some nuts-- primarily almonds and pistachios that I saw along with a good selection of flowers.

The community turns out for this very large and complete Farmer's Market. A must place to visit. The area has a farmer's market everyday but Monday but this is by far the oldest, most complete and best attended.

Don't get me wrong - the vendors were very good, we bought some honey and some nuts to bring home to MA. It was just a single file of vendors for two blocks, and was a little crowded. However, if you like farmers' markets (we do), by all means go.

So much variety - of flowers, fruits, veggies, and unique canned goods. Great prices from my perspective. The desire is to buy five of everything...one must remember the limits of one's stomach :)

We were visiting and happened upon the Farmer's Market on Tuesday night. Prepare yourself for such a large variety of vendors (lots of restaurants chefs purchasing goods too). We purchases berries and sprouted seeds and brought them back to our hotel to eat over the following days.

It's not a big farmers market, but it is a rainbow of color. Blocking the street in front of our hotel made it impossible to miss. In almost every booth, I had to remind my wife that we were not able to buy produce as we continued on to SF. It all looked as though it had been picked that... More
