Alice Keck park is a little gem located in the heart of Santa Barbara. I used to live on Micheltorena and could walk a couple blocks to the park. I would take a blanket, my music and some food to just chill. They have some markers near plants to identify their variety and there is also a printed guide. You will ducks, geese and turtles in the pond. It can be a very romantic place...I've seen prom goers to wedding parties in the park. The flowers and plants are beautiful and you can just enjoy the day sitting in the sun on the grass or a park bench seat. Free and worth every penny! :)

After visiting Mission Santa Barbara, I opened Trip Advisor to see what else was in the area. This garden got great reviews so I decided to go and I'm so glad I did. There are a lot of little routes within the gardens, with tons of sound posts that recite information when you touch the button. October is usually a pretty dull month for flowering gardens but there was a lot blooming here. Cool trees with dozens of bright orchid-like flowers on them. Huge bushes with bright orange hibiscus-like blooms. A nice little lake with water lilies and ducks. I went to many places today but this one is a fave.

Packed into this single square block are a plethora of excitements, especially for young children, dogs, and horticulturalists. Unique plant species abound, including trees from Australia, Africa, and Europe. There is a butterfly meadow that attracts monarchs, a running creek with stepping stones, and a massive Australian Fig tree that provides a shady area overlooking a duck pond with live turtles! There are multiple lawn spaces, and many benches in the shade, making for a parked alive with families having picknics on weekends.

A lovely park and garden to stroll in or have a picnic. Perfect for family gatherings or a quiet, contemplative moment. I was amazed at the plants.

This is such a wonderful spot in Santa Barbara! A great place to relax, play with the kids, see the ducks/turtles(definitely do not feed them – not good for them), or just relax on a couple different areas of beautiful lawn. You can find sections that are quiet or active.

One of my favorite picnic spots super close to downtown to go food.😄

Right across the street is a kids park with wood structures and toys for the more active children!.

After many years of driving by this park, we finally made it our destination this week for a picnic lunch. What a major disappointment; we left without eating after about 15-20 minutes of walking the grounds. I am appalled at the lack of care and attention evident everywhere we looked. Dead and dying lawns. Neglected plants and trees. Few benches. No tables. Overall impression is that the City does not care at all and makes no attempt to maintain this taxpayers' land. They are definitely a very poor custodian of what could be a downtown oasis.

The diversity of native wild flowers make for a great panorama of lush colors and aromas from the numerous varieties that I was privileged to enjoy.

This park was spared from development fortunately and is a green treasure, abundant with flowers and trees and pathways. The duck pond has just been cleaned up. Weekend family parties abound. NOt far from the city center and a great place to go to unwind.

This is an amazing garden. It's quite small and easy to walk through and the materials they provide for garden planning are terrific.
