The Santa Barbara Waterfront is a gem within the City of Santa Barbara....

The Santa Barbara Waterfront is a gem within the City of Santa Barbara. Visitors can stroll from beach to beach by foot or bike, park in convenient waterfront parking lots, and experience Santa Barbara Harbor & Stearns Wharf. From boating excursions to standup paddle boarding, day fishing to excellent museums, fabulous restaurants to sweets, you can find everything you need to spend the day at the our waterfront. Managed by the City's Waterfront Department, our mission is to provide the community with a quality Waterfront for recreation and commercial use, along with mooring and landside services for boating. Approximately 252 acres of tidelands and submerged lands is managed by the Department. The area encompasses the Harbor and Stearns Wharf and the beaches within the city limits. These lands belong to the State and are held in trust by the City in order to provide preventative maintenance, capital improvements, parking services, staffing, public safety, slip and visitor boat services, special events, public education and more. For those visiting by cruise ship, Santa Barbara is a wonderful day trip destination. Cruise Ship Ambassadors welcome passengers and provide a wide variety of free information on all there is to do and see during your visit. There is also public transportation via MTD Downtown and Waterfront Shuttles along with access to taxis. We moved to the area recently and our friends came by last weekend to visit. Of course we had to spend time by the water - and everyone enjoyed it! The kids went to the museum on the pier and enjoyed a waffle cone of ice cream. Even I found a Christmas gift for my stepdaughter at one of the... More

Nice for a walk and people watching between Stearns Wharf and the harbor. Stop at the harbor or wharf for eats and drinks.

The waterfront area is typically full of fun and interesting people. Great for people watching. The beach itself is ok, you can take a walk on the beach and put your feet in the water but certainly not the nicest beach. You will find that there are bums who use the beach as there temporary home for the night, unfortunate... More

It's a beautiful drive along the waterfront. In October 2016, great sections are under construction. But there are still great views and beautiful city parks to enjoy. You can walk out on the pier. You can walk downtown but it's a ways. Public bathrooms are at the front ot of the pier. Lovely on a sunny day!

We were killing time before a flight, it was fun to walk around and look at the shops and stop for a bite to eat.

I love the beach, and this one is clean and well maintained as far as I can see. You can walk or ride a bike along the sidewalk trail along the beach.
