The Margerum Santa Barbara Tasting Room, the latest addition to the lauded Santa Barbara Urban Wine Trail, is located adjacent to the vibrant Funk Zone in the Hotel Californian on the Northwest corner of Mason Street and Helena Avenue. The tasting room is situated just steps from the Pacific, the Moxi Museum and Stearns Wharf. The tasting room is an easy one and half hour drive from Los Angeles, twenty minutes from the Santa Barbara Airport and just one block from the Amtrak Station. MARGERUM WINE COMPANY tasting room is ideally positioned to be among Santa Barbara’s most exciting destinations for wine and food. We stayed at the Hotel Californian so we popped over here for a tasting and cheese board before dinner. We each ordered a flight and I kid you not the tasting pour was like 0.5 to 1 oz. Our friends got the $35 tasting and I did the $45 (Barden) tasting. Most of mine was enjoyable but our friends could barely stomach the last 3 of the $35 tasting. Between tasting rooms and vineyards in Napa/Sonoma, I’ve never paid for a tasting that involved such tiny pours. Oh and not opposed to being greener but they make you reuse your glass which is also something I’ve never experienced. The cheese board was good but overpriced even for SB standards.

My fiancé & I hosted a wine crawl 2 days before our wedding for some of our guests. Maddie at Margerum exceeded all of our expectations in planning! We have the upstairs patio reserved and our first flight waiting for us upon arrival. The service was exceptional as was the waitstaff. We could not have been happier. We already knew they had amazing wine, but now we know how great they are at entertaining.

Recently visited for wine tasting with family and had some lunch while there.
The wine was tasty and tailored for individuals, the staff were knowledgable, the food was good.
My only suggestion would be for the wine to come out as a 'flight' rather than one glass at a time, as a personal preference it would be easier to compare the wines.

We stopped in here to get a drink after having dinner at another restaurant. Great surroundings, wound up trying a flight, and then buying a few bottles to ship home. Very knowledgeable staff and extremely friendly! I would highly recommend.

We absolutely loved sitting at the bar and having a tasting with Lisa who is an absolute delight! So knowledgeable and the Sauv flight she did for us was fantastic! It was the highlight of our trip. We went back to buy wine before we left town and a T-shirt!

We didn't love the wine here, hence the three stars, but service was top-notch. The waitress generously let us try four different wines before deciding on one to order as a glass. Great ambience and variety of wine!

I was there Saturday afternoon with a party of 8 before we were abruptly ejected from Margerum. We walked into the mostly empty tasting room and sat at a communal table, commenting on the nice decor and the tranquil atmosphere when a woman behind the bar BARKED that a large group would change the dynamic of their establishment. We were completely shocked. We came in with such positivity, respect, and lots of money to spend and before a "hello" was uttered from her, this disgruntled worker told us we were not welcome. Without saying a word, we walked out and took our business to DV8, where we had STELLAR wine and service. The experience DV8 gave us saved our afternoon and the memory of this angry woman soon vanished.
Maybe this worker doesn't like her life and resented the happiness we were all feeling. Maybe she finds human interaction a little difficult and should not be in the service industry. But I will commend her on protecting the sour, negative dynamic of Margerum.

We enjoyed a flight of wine and a pizza here outside on the curb with the heaters on! Our small dog sat at our feet (or on our lap) and was welcome while we tasted and ate. The staff was friendly, but the chairs were so low to the ground this senior had a hard time getting up!

I’ve been a wine club member for many years. Margerum is making some of the best wines in the county. M5, Rosé and Sybarite to name a few. The staff is always friendly and fun and the location is great. I always recommend this place to people local and visiting!

Stopped by Margerum based on a number of locals telling us it's a not to be missed wine bar. Wow were they right! Wine is fantastic and Claudia who was helping us was amazing. Such a treat to find such a friendly place with such amazing wine. Highly recommend and will absolutely be back.
