About Sunset Kidd Sailing Cruises & Whale Watching
Since 1987, Sunset Kidd's offers Sailing Cruises along the Beautiful Santa Barbara Coastline. Based upon a love of sailing, this is not a typical tourist ride! We turn the engine off and showcase our love for the sport. Yes, it's wind in the sails and water lapping up against the boat... that's what we offer. This is NOT a narrated "tourist" type of ride, where the engine stays on! If you're a sailor, then we invite you to participate in the handling of our beautiful 41 foot sailing ketch. Our thoughts: People come to Santa Barbara to get away from the crowds... so we are thinking about heading out onto the Pacific Ocean... packing 49 passengers or more on a sailboat is like.... STAYING IN LOS ANGELES! Sunset Kidd's maximum passenger load is only 15 passengers.

We had a lovely sunset cruise! We say LOTS of dolphins, and the weather was great! The crew was very nice also.

It was the first day of the season so we only saw two whales spouting . It was a relaxing cruise sailing between santa barbara and the oil platforms . The boat showed some age but it had bar service . You could sit on cushions or stand on the front of the boat. The captain and his mate were fun and they made you feel welcomed. It is a great time and i highly recommend doing it just for the zen of it

We took the sunset cruise and were treated to a beautiful sunset and views of Santa Barbara. Jody and Seth were so personable and knowledgeable. The only negative were the overpriced cocktails.

Thank you for the review. To address Drinks prices: $4.64 Beer (Local Carpinteria "Islands" MicroBrew, IPA, Honey Ale and Tecate) $9.28 cocktail or glass of wine. (proudly pouring Santa Barbara produced wines) $32.48 bottle of wines (except the renown Santa Barbara Pinot Noir's are $37.12 and $41.76) Santa Barbara has a sales tax of 7.75% So adding the Tax to your cocktail/wine, Your cost is $10. (Example: $9.28 + tax.72 = $10.) Being on a boat, we have rounded the prices to minimize equations and dealing with coins. Cocktails certainly are NOT the money generating source of our business, .... but truly offered as a service to enhance your cruise! Thank you again for coming out sailing with us... Captain Dennis

This is a 42 foot sailboat, which we experienced for a sunset cruise. The winds were to light to go under sail alone, but we motored out and were followed for a while but a group of playful dolphins. The crew was competent and friendly. Really a nice way to end a day in Santa Barbara.

For us the trip was a big disappointment. We could clearly feel that the captain had no interest in going at all. She stopped half an hour earlier. Because her enthusiasm was far to be found, we left it at that. I would certainly NOT recommend it.

We are terribly sorry that you exchange with Captain Alyssa fell short. Indeed this comment is so far from normal. Usually She has an infectious Happiness that permeates all onboard. I do remember recently, Alyssa asked if I could skipper the remainder of the day, She was experiencing terrible stomach cramps....(but in 3 years, this only happen once). If that was your moment, then it certainly explains why she acted differently. Also please note that our late afternoon (Happy Hour) and Sunset Cruise are only 1.5 hours, while our day trips have a two hour duration. Please try us again... as this truly was a freak moment. Captain Dennis / Owner
