There are lots of places to eat, different types of restaurants, antique store and other shops, bought some great Teva sneakers. Had time to do some wine tasting too without going to a vineyard.

I enjoyed walking up and down State Street. Especially in the evenings when the vibe is different, people are out, so many great options for restaurants and places to lounge.

We entertain many visitors to Santa Barbara and over the years State Street is not worth the walk from Haley to Canon Perido. The one exception is on Tuesday afternoon and evening when the local farmer's market displays the unique bounties of the region's agricultural...More

I’m not a shopper. But when we went to Santa Barbara, State Street is a must visit. We just took a leisure walk from one end to the other. Window shopping, people watching. Nice afternoon. It was a bit disappointing to see many stores went...More

There still a few nice blocks. There are so many vacant storefronts. Everything young hip and cool Seems to have migrated to the funk zone. Where wine is plentiful. City is trying to hire a retail consulting expert to bring back to life.

Can totally get the Santa Barbara vibe strolling down this street with wine tasting shops, breweries, restaurants, hotels and some retail. All seems endemic to the place...didn’t see any chains or places that are everywhere; nice to see unique character preserved.

Passed through to get to the fig tree - not a fan of shopping but did find a good ice cream shop here - McConnells - very good.

I remember 20 years this was the place for shopping and eating. Today, half the stores are closed and tons of homeless people all over the place. Sad even the beautiful Macy's store is gone. We heard from store owners that rents are growing up...More

Once again, the character of State Street is changing. There are now more shops that you might find in a discount mall, and a number of storefronts are vacant. Still this is a great place to walk, shop, watch the crowds, or stop at one...More

Best bet would be to take a hop-on, hop-off trolley. Direct, not from the ship, most ship trolley tours are none stop.
