I have three dogs and wanted a great place to take them to. Arroyo Burro (Hendry's Beach) is the only beach spot to take your dogs! My dogs had a blast off leash splashing in the waves and this is the true gem of Santa Barbara in my humble opinion.

A great place to take your dog for a good swim in the ocean. The close parking lot turns over quickly, but there is also an additional parking lot parallel to the street. There is also a dog washing station in the add'l parking lot.

A local host might take you here. There is a casual restaurant (and bar) looking out to sea, a long sandy beach to walk and foot showers, although during the drought I am unsure whether they are keeping them on. A good place to go if you want to avoid the crowded downtown beaches, but it just about requires a... More

We wanted to visit a beach while in Santa Barbara and the woman at the visitor's center recommended this one. It's a bit out of town but the parking lot was still fairly crowded. the beach wasn't crowded at all and we quickly discovered that the water was too cold for us sissies to get in. Good thing we didn't,... More

My daughter saw that this place was a good beach to body board and I'm so glad we went. What a gem of a beach. It's a fairly small beach and parking is limited, however many people leave often because they are there just walking their dogs and not hanging out for the day. Dog are off leash on the... More

This beach also known as Hendrys beach was a favourite for us and you can walk for ages with no one else around you with a beautiful shoreline. There is a great area for doggie lovers but for the rest of us there is plenty. We sat and watched a feeding frenzy of dolphins aided by the Pelicans. Great spot... More

This is one of the few beaches in the Santa Barbara area where you can walk your dogs on the beach! There is also a restaurant directly on the beach as well!

Free parking. Great food at The Boathouse. Very well behaved dogs at the off leash beach. Self serve dogwash...$10. Such natural beauty and a very clean beach.

So pleased our friends recommended this beach! Easy access to the beach, family and dog freely, walkers, runners, locals and tourist all enjoying the sand and the surf. Make a reservation for lunch at the Boathouse when you arrive then settle yourself for a little R and R. Parking is free, area and bathrooms clean and the food at the... More

Loved this beach - beautiful vistas, great sand, easy to park (it is a 10 minute drive from downtown Santa Barbara). You probably need to love dogs though - half the beach requires dogs to be leashed - the other half they can run off leash. We love dogs so it was great to walk and see them running and... More
