Unfortunately arrived just too late for the docent tour so had to make do with wandering around on our own. We may not have learned much of the history of the Courthouse but thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful views from the Watchtower, the building itself and its sunken gardens. Not often you can say that a courthouse is very scenic but... More

With its smazing architecture, the Courthouse has also the best view of the city from the tower of the watch. There is an elevator for those who can´t/ don´t want to use the stairs.

It was a beautiful building to walk around. I loved how it felt you were inside but the building still opens up to the outside. Great views in the clocktower and just beautiful views of the architecture throughout the building.

As a free to visit site it's hard to beat. A lift takes you to the tower with great views over Santa Barbara and the coast. Then walk down and see the murals and the amazing tiling on the floors and walls.

This building is beautiful and worth the visit. We climbed the 113 stairs to the viewing tower and was able to see all of Santa Barbara. We were treated to the chiming of the tower bells and saw how they actually worked. This place is a must-see while visiting SB.

While the building and surroundings are nice and the clock tower gives you a 360 view of the city, be sure to explore visit the inside of the building too. And don't park in front of the book drop off! 😅

I only wish we had gotten here before the building closed for the evening. We walked around the building admiring the architecture and the amazing variety of plants, shrubbery, and trees on the grounds. I definitely want to visit again!

An enormous building that takes up a whole city block. It is built in the Spanish style as is much of downtown Santa Barbara. The interior is marvelously decorated with Spanish-style tiles, carvings and frescoes. Especially interesting is the frescoed Board of Supervisors meeting room and also the bell tower from the top of which is a magnificent city view.
