I went to the Bowers Museum recently and they had a display of Chinese Art. My favorite was the color Red display with how different cultures use red dye and how it was limited to only the elite at that time. The red coats for the Civil war were dyed using a insect. Those coats were for the higher ranking... More

Went there for The Red that colored the World Exhibition. Very interesting subject matter. Not only was it a history lesson, it was educational n eye opening experience to see the how versatile the color from the cochineal bug. One can also see the live bug at the demo table, which we almost missed. There should be better information from... More

One of the most revered and lovely exhibitions in the world! Apparently in Santa Ana, the Terra Cotta Warriors exhibition was there nearly every year. I first visited there back in Oct 2008. It was very nice to see the warriors with there poses and the calvary. But the most authentic warriors are apparently in Xi' An China.

The Bowers Museum always surprises me. The current special exhibit on the color red not only delighted me visually with a wide variety of fabrics, books and many objects from around the world, I learned a lot about the dying process and trade. Another special exhibit revealed a new side of Diego Riviera via drawings for a book and also... More

Needed a place to kill some time while staying in the area. Enjoyed the Red exhibit as I learned something new. Was disappointed to see two elephant tusks in the China exhibit though. If they need to be on display, there should be a sign explaining where they came from. Had a yummy tuna sandwich at the restaurant there for... More

Last Saturday was rainy so we decided to do a museum. Bowers was wonderful! Loved the exhibits and gift shop. If you are in the area, worth a visit.

We had bought a membership 11 months earlier, but since we live some distance away, we hadn't been back, so we returned. We didn't even check what exhibits were open because they are always good. The first stop was a special exhibit (now closed) which I don't remember the title by an artist with various forms of art and small... More

We're visiting and staying in Anaheim, and had a spare day. Saw this 'attraction' on Trip Advisor and thought we'd visit. This cutlural museum lives up to all the positive reviews. We enjoyed the history of the wider locale, as well as the permanent art and cultural displays. The 2 special exhibits were simply stunning - we especially loved the... More

Don't let the smaller size of this museum fool you! They have visiting and long term world class exhibits on a variety of topics from textiles, basketry, Head Hunters, South America, California History, Gemstones and more! They also offer lectures on art, history, Egyptian Life and History, Archaeology and many other topics. Dr. Zahi Hawass has spoken here on numerous... More

Great Museum to visit. The exhibits change regularly, lots of parking and best of all, it is close by.
