If Driving route 1 you must stop here. It's free, and lovely. So great to see the elephant seals sun bathing and chilling on the beach!

Stop and stretch your legs! We were here in early November. There were dozens of elephant seals making weird noises and being kinda stinky. Definitely worth a stop of you're driving by. Not worth a special trip.

Very interesting spot to see the elephant seals in their rookery. The pups won't come for a few months but they are gathering now. Docents are there to answer questions and the viewing area gets you up close.

If your are on the go, you can stop to check them out, not worth too much of your time, maybe it is because i am not a big animal lover. My wife did enjoy it.

A substantial number of females and juveniles were present in early November, although the beach was not filled. A few juvenile males were learning to fight. If you are in the area, this is a must visit.

Although we've visited when there were considerably more seals,it still was so entertaining. The walkway makes it easy to view and the shoreline is beautiful. They had a small brochure available(free)that was very informative

This place is awesome. We really enjoyed watching all of the elephant seals laying around and playing. The boardwalk is great, and close enough to see them well. You do not have to walk far to see them. The area is well marked and there...More

We were unsure if we would see the seals as it’s not the recommend time to visit. We weren’t disappointed though. Lots of adolescent males testing out their strength. There’s a well designed boardwalk that allows everyone to get a really good view without disturbing...More

We have visited this Elephant Seal Rookery many times. But in October, there was not the usual amount of male seals, female seals and young pups there on the beach. Best time to visit is probably February and March. There would be thousands of seals...More

It is a long way between the two... At more than a 4 hour drive. We were at Yosemite and drove to San Francisco , then down the coast to San Simeon. That was 2 days of driving / sightseeing.

Certainly not. I don't know if it's 24/7, but it's open all day.
