It is located in San Mateo's Central Park. I tended to frequent it on weekdays. It has all the characteristic of a typical Japanese Garden. It is a lovely place to find some peace and quiet in the heart of town.

We went to this area specifically to see this garden and were not disappointed. Though small in acreage, every inch is carefully manicured to get the most out of this beautiful oasis in the middle of town. Very peaceful, pleasant and clean --

Very well maintained and enjoyed by people of all nationalities. Reminds me of Japan. Don't miss it but remember it closes at 4pm.

It's pretty small, but worth a stop if your in the area. A large pond, tons of koi and plenty of opportunities for beautiful pictures. Entrance is free and there is lots of parking in the area.

This garden is special. San Mateo's Japanese cultural influence is experienced no where better than the beautiful Japanese Garden. The plant and fish pond are expertly maintained. Japanese maples, azaleas, camellias are some of the stars of the garden. Best months to visit are April...More

In the midst of a bustling suburbia there is a quiet a peaceful respite in the middle of San Mateo Central Park. With its nicely manicured bonsai and peaceful koi pond it's a great place to come and meditate. Free of charge!

Good to be in a relaxing atmosphere without spend thousands of dollars going to the Orient. Peace and quiet with beautiful oriental buildings, flower and greenery gardening. What and where can you find such a place in and so close to San Francisco?

Small, but very enjoyable. The coy fish pond is great and very relaxing. I enjoy a visit every time I am near the park.

Didn't see this until another question was recently posed. Above answers are accurate. To paraphrase an old line... No service...but you can go shirtless and shoeless!
