If you've been to any French city you will feel deja vue when you visit Fromagerie Sophie. It's tiny and managed by a husband and wife who are deeply passionate about cheese—and knowledgeable. There are probably a hundred or more international cheese selections and complimentary samples are offered from any cheese that can be cut. These are all high quality artisanal cheeses and not inexpensive. I've visited three times now and have never been disappointed. They also offer a high quality selection of charcuterie and accessories. When you want the finest quality cheese and a great selection, come here.

Visited SLO as part of our PCH road trip. While browsing Trip Advisor for must-visits I found reviews of Sophie's and added it to our list. So glad I did because we may have missed it if we weren't specifically looking for it.
The choice of cheeses seemed endless and so did the tastings. I mean all cheeses we showed interest in, we were given a taste of. We asked one of the workers to help us out as we were packing a picnic of cheeses and she did a wonderful job. The semi soft ones were my absolute favorites. Ask for samples and you will be hooked! I will go back to SLO just to visit this shop again! Yeah, it's that good.

We stopped by on an Art after Dark event in SLO and found a wonderful little treasure. The store offers a very interesting and tasty selection of French cheeses, pâtés and dried meats. We sampled several selections recommend to us by the staff. After assembling a great selection we headed home with our foods planning for a lovely picnic the next day. Please try this little shop. You won't be disappointed.

This cheese shop is fantastic. We are locals and belong to the cheese of the month club. The owners and staff are very knowledgeable and the selection is outstanding. If you come to San Luis Obispo don't miss visiting this beautiful shop on Garden Street.

Walking into this cheese store you will be delighted by the senses as you inhale aroma's of decadent cheeses. They have a decent display of international famed cheeses known within those regions. My only quib is that some of the more mundane (and often good ones) are missing from their display. Sophie is gearing for the upmarket variety fleshing out the mundane. I cannot await to see where they are headed in terms of tastings - pairings and mushings of flavors as I could tell they care about their product, the delivery and the accoutrements. A tad pricey - but what the heck?? By the time they entice you with free samplings...it's all in the package of greatness!

I visited SLO for a long weekend that included a fair bit of wine tasting and we noticed this beautiful cheese shop when walking near our hotel. It felt like I was stepping into a small slice of Europe. The shop has a wide range of cheeses and meats -- and really anything else you might want to go along with the cheeses. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I wish lived in SLO so I could also be part of their cheese of the month club. I can't wait to make a trip back.

This cheese shop is awesome. When I walked in the shop, I felt like I walked in a cheese shop in Europe. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I am so glad I stopped by to pick some cheese up for my wine tasting adventure.

Great staff, willing to give samples. Knowledgeable and ok, I have lived in Europe for 27 years and the selection that they have is outstanding. Rare things like cheeses from Italy with Hay and Chestnut leaves (yum). My favorite was the Conte. But so many wonderful cheeses - and they have great french bread (before it sells out) and do buy the Cowgirl Creamery crackers to go with your cheese. I love this place.

The owner and staff were extremely hospitable and put together beautiful cheese plates for my daughter and her friend who was celebrating her birthday. The hospitality was exceptional as was the cheese. The back patio was quaint and relaxing. It was such a fun and novel thing to do.

What a wonderful cheese shop. It had all the cheesed that I loved. Epoisses, Livarot, Saint-Nectaire, and Pont l'Eveque, and many other cheesed from other countries. They also had crackers and sausages. The owner was wonderful, she found an bag to keep the cheeses in while we went sight seeing. Loved the store, right in town.
