The interior and exterior are well designed and it is nice to sit outside.
The cheapest wine tasting is a very expensive $45, where you get several small pours. There is no capability to buy an individual glass of wine, which is very disappointing. You will have to buy a bottle which is easily over $100 for a red wine.
We got a cheese and charcuterie plate, which was basically a pre-packaged wooden box of a few meats and cheeses and nuts. I certainly expected much more than that.for $25.
I think if this was the first time I had been to a winery it would have definitely put me off future visits because of the poor value for money. The wines are fine, but absolutely nothing special. They are a bit alcohol forward. However, this is a very subjective issue so each person will have to decide on their own! There are much better places with better value for money and great views.

Tolosa's tasting room is located on a beautiful patio surrounded by their vineyards. The staff is knowledgeable and welcoming. They provide not only wonderful wines but the in-depth information about the wine. They have made the tasting experience not only relaxing, informative but a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Terrific wine tasting venue. We were visiting SLO and decided to go to a winery so we chose Tolosa. Beautiful grounds and lovely staff. Highly recommend.

I think this winery put all their money into the building and not into the wine. I nor anyone I know likes the wine here. Maybe it is because we have been to over 500 wineries and have a more refined palate.

Please note, we were totally happy with our tasting experience. Kelsey took excellent care of us from start to finish. Her knowledge and attitude were the standard that I would strive for in a staff. They even welcomed our small dog! (Dogs ok if on leash. If it's a nice day hit the patio for your tasting!)
The wine selections were hit or miss but that's the whole point of wine tasting. Not everything appeals to everyone.
Here's where points start coming off. Our tasting was $15 each, which is waived with the purchase of 2 bottles (acceptable enough on the surface). How much do they want to charge for each bottle? Well over TWICE the amount you'd pay at most retailers.
This is a completely backwards and downright STUPID business practice. You have just started a personal relationship with a consumer. You have an opportunity to create a lifelong brand loyal customer. What you DON'T do is price gouge. It costs the winery the least amount of money to sell a bottle. There's no transport or shipping costs when bought at the source. WHY would you slap your brand new customer in the face. Whoever the operations manager is should be immediately fired.

We really wanted to enjoy Tolosa, but our experience fell way short of other reviewers. Shortly after we arrived we were the only customers there. John was our pourer/attendant. Unfortunately, it appeared that we arrived on “wine club pick up day”. John barely spoke to us and I don’t think he would have blinked if we blew our brains out with a sawed off shotgun right in front of him. I don’t even remember the wines. We got interrupted at least 6-7 times. The wine club members were the priority, not us.
Was there not one extra employee there that could have taken care of us or the wine club members? Apparently not. They have a huge wall of glass that gives you a view of all their stainless steel tanks. What was odd was outside there were wonderful views but you would never know it inside. Why highlight the tanks and not the outside views?
This was our only negative experience out of NINETEEN wineries that we visited during our trip to the central coast region.

Top Quality Wine in lovely location. Visited here with friends from Cleveland and they enjoyed the beautiful location, nicely appointed tasting room, with view of the production tanks. Their Pinot Noir is just about the best I've had, and it is great to see their committment to sustainable practices. Quality people run this place, make this wine and serve it to visitors. A bit high on the tasting charge ($15) or more ($29) if you want a cheese platter to go with it. I guess I am so old I remember when all the wine tastings were free. Having said that, you do get a quality experience in a great setting from a top notch business.

We both were anxiously awaiting a return visit to Tolosa Winery, and thought it would be the highlight of the wineries we visited. We were wrong! We were there 4 or 5 years ago and had an incredible experience tasting their Chards, etc...even thought about joining their wine club.
The gentleman who poured for us was knowledgeable, but the pour list wines we had on Tuesday just didn't match up to Chamisal or others. We asked if he could pour some reserve 1772 Chard or anything else from the other list...he said that was only OK on weekends. Are you kidding me??
What difference did that make? He finally agreed to pour a Pinot and we bought it! We asked a 3rd time for the Chard and he declined. Well they must have so much business they didn't need ours obviously...so much for them, we were well taken care of a the other 3 wineries we went to in the SLO area that day.
