This was an awesome tour! We were able to try everything at SLO Public Market for an amazing cost. Typically when I got to a public market I have dreams of trying everything but after going to one location and spending around $20-30 I would be super full. With this tour I got to try everything and left full hahaha. One big perk is trying Bings Bao's which always has an extremely long line and sells out quickly. With this tour - no line and no fuss! I highly recommend it!

Just took a tour with Victoria and I’ve got to say, it was fantastic! Victoria was quite knowledgeable about the restaurants we visited as well as their significance to the local community. However, best of all was the food. Had some delicious chili with tri tip as well as Kho soi (sp). The restaurants were all quite different but everyone was super friendly. Victoria kept everything light and fun and was a wonderful guide. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to try new places to eat in San Luis Obispo.

Today 5 of us joined Angie, our tour guide, and another couple on the Walking Food Tour. It was awesome. We had good food, drinks and great conversation. It was fun walking to different restaurants to get a taste of their fare. Angie masterfully wove the food, area and a little history into the tour. I would recommend doing this. It is a great way to get informed about the area and a most enjoyable day. Angie is very knowledgeable about the restaurant business, SLO area and really passionate about what she does.

Started out with a lot of food at SLO BBQ. Awesome Tri-tip, pulled pork and smoked chicken. Full array of beers on tap(see pic) also several wines on tap that we got to drink. Went and had Peruvian food (Ceviche and Empanadas) and a great Peruvian drink that was very refreshing. Also had a good glass of white wine. After that we went and had a great Ice Cream in the Creamery made frozen with liquid nitrogen that was very smooth and creamy. Had a tasty sampling of bread at the House of Bread. Great place and super friendly staff. Cinnamon Rolls looked amazing. Chocolate Zucchini bread was really good. If you like spicy try the Jalapeño bread. After that we walked to the other end of town to the Hotel Granada Bistro and had a cheese plate and Caesar Salad. Moscow Mule was on point. Victoria was our guide and did a great job filling us in on what is going on in SLO. Very friendly and put on an informative/fun tour. I highly recommend this tour.

Having heard about other food tours, this was not what I expected. We began at a barbecue restaurant with beers on tap. That was the best part of the tour-adequate food (3 meats, cornbread, beans) and drinks. We then walked to an ice cream place and chose a scoop of ice cream. I was VERY surprised our tour guide included NO history of San Luis or the restaurants unless we asked. Most tours give a detailed history as you are walking. They also tell you why they chose the places you are visiting.

We then moved on to a bread place where we could choose a slice of chocolate zucchini bread and herb bread. Those were our only choices. After that we walked to a vegetable restaurant. We were offered two dishes (family style) and some wine. The dishes were a fried kale (amazing) & a cauliflower dish (spicy). Wine or seltzer were your drink choices. It would have been nice to see a menu.

Last, we went to a bistro where it was cocktails (or mocktails) only-no food. I asked the guide to tell us five things we should know about San Luis...

Don't get me wrong, the guide could not have been nicer!! We loved getting to know the people with us on the tour! As a new tour, I think they need to include more food choices and San Luis history and details.

Hi Shelley, I am so sorry to hear of your less than 5 star experience. It is so disheartening to spend money on an activity and not feel like it was worth it afterwards. I have sent you a personal email to address some of the issues you experienced. My regards, Angee Johnson Owner Taste of SLO - Walking Food Tour

Angee couldn't have been a more cordial, historically informative guide and hostess.
She gave special attention to each guest. Guests were were both singles and couples. A great afternoon!

This was my second tour with Taste of SLO and I’m already planning my third tour! Angee was fabulous helping me plan this tour since I had a large group and everyone was paying individually. Our tour guide, Victoria, was exceptional! She gave us such great information about SLO and truly made everyone feel like they were her best friend.
Let’s talk about the food and drinks. WOW!! We went to 5 stops on our tour, all of which I haven’t been to before (and I’m a long time local). I love that each stop on the tour is hand picked and every place has such a moving back story. They are all local businesses who within themselves support other small town local businesses. It’s a win win for everyone! We are looking forward to the new tour in 2022!!!

My wife and I have been on many food walking tours. It is something we really enjoy. We went on an the Taste of SLO Downtown Walking tour yesterday. What a wonderful time. Alicia our guide was excellent. She was informative, personable and funny. We learned a lot about downtown San Luis Obispo. We were able to see the inside of a room at a famous downtown hotel - formerly a brothel.

And then, of course, there was the food. Oh my. The food was excellent, fun and varied. We had barbecue, a Cuban sandwich, chocolates and pastries. All were incredibly good and the portions were large - we were so stuffed we skipped dinner last night. Additionally, we tried different beers (my wife had a hard cider) and drinks.

We highly recommend this tour. It was a 10.

This is hands down the BEST adventure SLO has to offer. From the moment we met Angee we knew we were in for a real treat. We were greeted with smiles and our own private seating area at every stop. Being a life long local to the Central Coast, we went to places that I'd never been before but I'm guaranteed to return. The food was delicious and every single person on the tour had the same reaction. The servings are generous and Angee does a fabulous job of preparing you for what to expect on your stops (just in case you want to pace eating or drinking). One bit of that delicious BBQ and there was no turning back. Our tour included a stop at the Granada Hotel & Bistro which I've been wanting to try for yeas. We even got a tour of the Nighcap bar and the hotel!! Seriously folks, if you haven't booked yet I don't know what you are waiting for. Oh, maybe you want Sheila's Chocolates. One bit of her organic goodies and you won't buy chocolate from the store ever again. :-) Every place that we stoped Angee had waters waiting for us and a cool shaded or indoor spot to enjoy our treats. The tour included facts about the history of Downtown SLO and these establishments which was incredible to hear especially being a local (I had no clue).
This was our first walking food tour and we are already planning the next tour with Taste of SLO ~Walking Food Tour. I would do this again and again!
