Great wines. Great stories.

You won’t find the vineyards here, but you can try all their great wines within a charming atmosphere. Ask for Mike...he’s a fixture and full of stories and knowledge of the wines, the regions, and just makes the experience so much better. Then take some wine home with you! Enjoy.

Not where we expected but once inside............................
Jan 2020
We were those people that usually gets an eye roll. We walked in about 20 minutes before closing. After a little discussion and finding out we were from the other coast, we couldn't have felt more welcome. The tasting was fantastic and we each left with a bottle only as we had to pack that night for the trip back. You forget you are in a busy area once inside the door. Although it is not at an actual vineyard, you quickly forget. The experience was extremely enjoyable.

5 for $15
Feb 2020 • Friends
I had never had the J Lore wines before and the sample tastings of five wines for $15 was a good way to make my selections and give them a go. I enjoyed them all and found a few faves. It’s an easy walk to Luna’s restaurant from here so it’s a fun outing if you’re in the area.

Great wines and charming servers
Jan 2019
The wines are delicious and full of flavors. And, they offer generous tastes. While I traditionally drink white wines, mostly Chardonnays, J. Lohr has a Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc that are delightful, as well as their red wines. I have become a huge fan of their Cabernet Sauvignon. So much so that I joined one of their wine clubs.

No longer free
Jan 2019 • Couples
One wonderful thing about this tasting room (something that made it like visiting the wine country 30 years ago) was the fact that their wine tasting was free. I always purchased a few bottles after tasting here and the free tasting likely did support me buying some of their wines in local stores. However, effective today (1/2/19), there is now a $15 charge for six tastes that is only waived on a $75 purchase (that's a bit steep). These wines were nice, but not THAT nice (remember, this is an urban setting, you are not looking out on the vineyards, it's a commercial location, plus much of their wine is large production table wine of sort of average quality). Sorry to see yet another part of the 20th century wine tasting experience gone. Maybe they could reconsider this new policy???

Loved our visit to this winery, despite its non-wine country location. I was not previously familiar with J. Light wines, but really enjoyed tasting them. Recommended.

J. Lohr never disappoints
Aug 2018
J. Lohr 7 Oaks Cabernet has been my favorite wine for awhile. When I learned that this place was near our hotel, deciding to go was a no-brainer. Because there were 6 of us, we called ahead. We were warmly greeted and given a list of wines from which we chose 5. We were given a lot of interesting information and the people were very nice. The tasting of the 5 wines was FREE! We did buy a couple of bottles along with a leather-bound notebook and a few other souvenirs. A very pleasant short visit!

Off to the airport
Aug 2018 • Friends
We stopped here are on our way to the airport to head home quite surprised that the tastings were free. Unfortunately there was no room left in my bag after going to other vineyards during the week or else I would’ve picked up a bottle of wine to take home
