You could easily miss this small winery so near the SAP Center. It is tucked away, just off of The Alameda and has been around 40+ years. They offer free tastings daily until around 5PM. My wife and I prefer reds, but they offer some nice white varietals. They have some wine and cheese pairings on Fridays, make sure to... More

I walked from the Hilton San Jose to J Lohr and it was worth the 30 minute walk! The staff was very friendly and knowledgable, the tasting was free and the wine was very reasonably priced to send home all the way to Florida. Great way to spend an afternoon. The walk was easy and felt safe for a single... More

Excellent! Arlene was fabulous and made the trip well worth it. Definitely recommend a visit. We highly recommend the weekends to sample the Bordeaux wines. Thank you J. Lohr.

We love tasting at this winery in San Jose and Paso Robles. Their wines are very good - both the supermarket variety as well as the more special varietals. It's one of the few remaining wineries that don't charge a tasting fee. The servers are friendly and accommodating, making it an enjoyable experience.

We're already fans of J. Lohr wines but were surprised at the variety of wines offered here at the tasting room. Michael was very knowledgable about their products & guided us through the list, offering bits of wisdom. We enjoyed our tasting very much.

If you have a few days in San Jose and are thinking of exploring Californian wine, then come here. It's got many advantages. It's free (until obviously you decide to buy some wine. For which I would not blame you in the least!) and it's a very nice place to visit. And consider combining it with a visit to the... More

Found two reds that I was not familiar with. Mourvèdre and petite Shiraz that were very good. Pricey but bought a bottle, a polo shirt and glass to take home. Very good.

Sadly, Louisiana will not allow shipments of wine direct from J. Lohr to me, but alas, I did find some of their wines that I truly loved, so will keep my eyes open when visiting various restaurants. Amazingly, tastings were FREE, & attendant was very friendly & knowledgeable. Definitely worth a stop when in the San Jose area.

People are really friendly and professional to explain everything about their wines and vineyards. We loved the way they keep everything in echo-friendly way and recycling.
