The seat of the Bishop of San Jose, this huge cathedral features seating around three-quarters of the altar. Numerous statues fill niches, and the presence (tabernacle) is separated and behind the seating for the celebrants.

Nice place to visit if you are in town. Beautiful church with the stations of the cross. They give out lunch to the homeless each day.

Pretty much the only thing worth looking at in downtown San Jose. This is a beautiful classicist edifice that has been restored in the early 90's to its original appearance. Nice stained glass windows and some decent frescoes inside. Worth visiting for 15 min if you happen to be in San Jose

Beautiful facility. We visited the day before Easter. The grounds were quiet, but we made our way into the Basilica. People were setting up for the service that night, but we were able to appreciate the inside of this beautiful place of worship. I am not religious, but I can still appreciate the beauty of this church. There are certainly... More

The Basilica was renovated a number of years ago and is beautiful inside. Make sure to catch a winter concert there because the acoustic s are amazing. Parking on the street or in lots nearby (for a fee)

We always visit local churches when traveling and it was a special treat to visit this beautiful work of art in a cultural setting. It was so nice to see families flocking to Sunday Mass and fraternizing among themselves and friends. I was welcomed by the Pastor and he even gave me a special prayer and blessing to extend to... St josephs cathedral is a a Catholic Church located in downtown San Jose. Parking is difficult, many homeless walking around the church but once you climb the stairs ( ramp is off to the side) you enter a peaceful, well decorated and beautiful church. The alter sits in the middle and the pews surround it oval shaped. The Acustics are... More

If you are in the San Jose area (around downtown), take some time to visit this basilica. Stare at the ceiling to enjoy some amazing art. The stained glass windows are well done. During the mass times, you will be welcomed at the door. They have a gift store as well. You may have to park in the paid parking... More
