San Clemente State Beach can be accessed at several places at the south end of San Clemente, including through the campground which requires a hike down the cliffs. The best access is at Calafia State Park which is a day use area with a large (fee) parking lot and just a safe crossover the train tracks onto a large sandy... More

Do you hate super crowded beaches? We do! Our hotel manager told us to check out this hidden gem. Not super crowded compared to every other beach. Free street parking. Showers to rinse off sand. Coastal trail with views. Pier for a fun walk to see surfers and fisherman. Food vendors that sell lunch foods like burgers chicken fingers hot... More

We stayed in San Clemente at the beach. Really nice and clean beach. Great for kids. The surf can be a little rough for kids to play in but overall really great place to relax.

With so many beautiful beaches in this area, I'd skip this option. Very underwhelming for anyone who doesn't live here.

Nice Beach had showers and bathrooms. Great for kids to play in the water the waves were too high. Does get a little busy in the afternoon. Cross over the railroad tracks by stairs down to the beach.

San Clemente is a beautiful town that is built on the hill. The beaches are beautiful the look at, sunbathe, picnic and walk on. They have beautiful palapas that line the walk ways and the sound of the train is quick but beautiful. But be awayre that because of the way the beach hits the shore, it creates a very... More

Unlike San Onofre which is full of rocks that slam your feet in the current San Clemente is nice sand with a ton of small gravel that stings a bit during high tide but isn't enough to hinder any real enjoyment. Big waves will toss you around so if you like that (we do) this is a fun beach.

All along San Clemente, the beach was very rocky. I had not known that before arrival and was a little sad my kids did not like to play in the pebbles, they cut our feet up quite a bit.

San Clemente Beach is a jewel to the pacific coast. Far enough away from the tourist crowd that usually flood Huntington and San Diego, this beach is always clean and never too crowded (minus the special event weekends and holidays). If you're a surfer and you haven't surfed here, you are missing out.

Loved that there are designated surfing areas at this beach near the pier- didn't need to worry about running over swimmers and body boarders. Lots to do, see, buy, and eat at the pier also!
