If you play here in the winter your a fool ! But in the summer its 20 degrees cooler here than anywhere inland and that makes up for a lot . I wont lie to you this course is rough , the greens are pretty good and the layout is difficult . I repeat this course is not in good shape but the locals say if you play well here you can do it anywhere . So drink some beer bring your buddies and enjoy the weather. If you can find a discount so much the better and if you can afford a hundred bucks go Tolega . One more thing if you drink in the bar watch out , these drinkers are pros and the cops wait just outside looking for drunks .

Repaving a lot of the area in front of the clubhouse and around the putting greens. Lots of landscaping and it looks like major redo on the internals. I caught a couple of bunkers and was extremely surprised to find healthy loads of sand in each of them! This course is coming around.
Always a pleasure.

This course has come a long ways in the last 25 years. I play here often as it is the cheapest course in Orange County. I can remember when the fairway on hole 16 was so sparse they put practice pads in the fairway so you could move your ball from the dirt to the practice pad for your next shot. Now all the fairways are green and well tended. The greens have always been well tended. I think it is a well designed course and very challenging when you play in the canyons.

the price was right, but the houses falling off the cliffs and all the ground squirrels were very unsightly. the fairways were beat up badly and the clubhouse hasn't seen a contractor since Nixon played there. the thing I liked least was driving the carts thru narrow drainage tunnels.

I have golfed at Shorecliffs for years. It's a laidback course with players of various skill levels. The atmosphere is relaxed in the clubhouse. Joe, the bartender, is a nice guy who pours a great gin and tonic. There are plenty of TVs in the clubhouse so you can watch sports while you tally your scores and square your bets.

The course itself is a bit beaten up, but there are slivers of ocean views on a couple of holes on the front nine. I love it here. It's not nearly as snooty an atmosphere as any other coastal course I've played.

Used to be one of Orange County's most challenging courses due to tall grasses, poor drainage, standing water. But course has been cleaned up and is in reasonably good condition. Interesting layout with challenging holes.

Went to play golf with my brother and son this past Wednesday. Had a 12:30 tee off time, start of a great time. The starter was real friendly and helpful. We needed to tee off earlier and he got us out @ 11:30. (Son had to get to work). At the turn we stopped at the bar for a brew and burger. The burger was nice surprise, really good. The course needs a little work (fairways) but the greens were true and FAST. Had a great time, playing next week.

Beautiful and challenging golf course. The club house is a bit dated and smells musty. It was a good deal

Thoroughly enjoyed the challenge! Played white tees 6/28/12- shot 100 (5 out of bounds penalties), took about 4:20 min to play. My second time playing the course. The first time (last summer) I lost nine balls. This course is unforgiving for slicers/hookers(?) and the overly aggressive. Though this is a good thing in my mind- pay about $20-$25 & take a minimum 10 cheap balls and work on your STRAIGHT AIM GAME.

This time I shanked/lost 4 balls but FOUND 5 other balls... nice. By the back nine my drives were straight out of necessity/adjustments! Booked 10:30am tee time the night before via golf18network for $21. Pin placement was tough/undulating greens, but read true and are in good shape.

Only women complain about the tunnel/sewer cartways- suck it up and hold your breath. Or just fart and make it smell better. The driving is adventurous & the layout is actually pretty cool with many scenic holes.

Will be playing again next week!!!
Can't be beat for $21.

Considering weather, championship design and spectacular views. Kapalua and Pebble Beach might be better, but not for 5 times the price!!!!! Excellent day of golf!
