The Monterey Peninsula's love affair with world-class racing traces its...

The Monterey Peninsula's love affair with world-class racing traces its beginnings to the inaugural running of the Pebble Beach Road Races in 1950. Those sports car events quickly outgrew the public roads of the Del Monte Forest and a beautiful new road facility was born on November 9, 1957.Since then, Monterey has been visited by some of the most prestigious racers in history; Roger Penske, Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, Kenny Roberts, Bobby Rahal, Wayne Rainey and Valentino Rossi to name a few. The late 60's and 1970's may be remembered as the "Can-Am Years," but it was also the debut of Trans Am, IMSA and AMA motorcycles. CART Indy Car racing and Grand Prix Motorcycling put their stamp on the track in the 80's and 90's. More recently, the huge evolution MotoGP has created a phenomenal global following for the track.Today, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca hosts five world-class race weekends each season, with elite road racing series from around the world visiting the Monterey Peninsula every year.

Drove the track at Laguna. What a treat! Participated in the track school event through Hooked-On-Driving, which is an excellent program to learn to drive a race track. The track is spirited and offers continuous challenges regardless of your experience. I've come to appreciate all the turns on the course, but the Corkscrew (turns 8 and 8a) is always a... More

Visited for the annual Porsche event and had a wonderful time! Got to see some awesome cars and watch the races - excellent views from almost anywhere along the track. Go and enjoy the spectacle! They have camping on site, too.

MRLS, in cooperation with PORCHE NORTH AMERICA, did a wonderful job with hosting this important event. RENNESPORT V was a great celebration of PORCHE'S history. It was, for automobile enthusiasts, a wonderful weekend of people, racing, auto history, and appreciation of one of the World's great automobiles. MRLS staff and facilities were at their best. Any person interested in automobiles,... More

I've been around road racing most of my life but have never been here or Sonoma....until this week. Tv and photos don't do it justice. The racing history that was made on these hills and turns boggles the mind. I had to watch the AMG group circle the track, lap after lap, and after 15 minutes I was greener with... More

Laguna Seca is an iconic raceway. I'm most familiar with motorcycle racing - and this is a great world class track and facility. The area is large and attractive, multi-purpose, with some attractive views across the hills and valleys.

Traffic getting in and out of race is ridiculous. Takes too long and does not make sense. Track not very crowded. Perhaps because it is difficult to get inside. Ticket price too high. If lower,,,,,you might have more people attend.

This is a wold class raceway...auto, bike nationals take place here. Besides that, however their are antique car races, some music events and other types of auto related events. There is also a nice ca,ping facility on the property. And it's conveniently located between Salinas and Montered.

We recently crewed for a team during the Monterrey Historics races during Monterrey Car Week. This place, loaded with history, is a wonderful setting that is great for spectators. The Monterrey Veterans provide taxi service in golf carts. They are all over. Hop on board and they will take you wherever you want to go at the track. Head up... More

I have seen this race track many times on TV and thought it looked great. Today I got to visit it and now I know it is awesome. The TV does not do the Corkscrew justice. I would love to come back one day and drive this track.
