A trip to Africa without leaving the states.

My husband and I stayed the B&B and loved our time. The bungalows look like something you would see on an African Safari. We stayed in the Giraffe house and loved having a "ring... read more

My husband and I took our 15 and 13 year old kids to the zoo for the tour. It lasted about an hour including the extra time for feeding the elephants (small fee). Our tour guide was friendly and informative and we were all impressed with the variety of animals on site. They have expansion plans for many of the... More

Monterey Zoo has some good animals and some well-meaning staff. But my wife and I were left with a sour taste in our mouths by the constant talk of animal welfare being at the centre of everything they do when 90% of the enclosures are sickeningly under sized. (Some big cats have, perhaps, twenty by six foot of space.) There... More

It is not often that I (respectfully) respond to such criticism with as much vigor and disappointment as I do with this review but I am becoming increasingly disappointed by those who attack the very efforts being made to right the wrongs they do nothing more than complain about! This individual does just that as they clearly state how we... More

The Safari B & B with breakfast delivery by the elephants is not to be missed! We loved the raised tents, visit time with the animals and sounds of the lion in the night.

Charlie and his staff at Wild Things work miracles with their rescued animals. The elephants are healthy and happy with incredible accommodations. The big cats are more confined, but the attention they receive and loving kindness their tenders give makes all the difference. They are happy and playful. They also have some incredible places to stay if you contact them... More

This is not actually a kind of zoo one would expect but a place of retirement for animals who were performers or no place to go. It is a not profit organization who are trying to provide a home for these animals. It's good to see it's residents healthy and happy. This place has a B and B where in... More

We had the best time here. There are a lot of animals and much to learn. We bought the VIP package and it was worth every penny. We had a more private tour got to wash Paula the Elephant (Elephants are really big when you stand beside one), hold a monkey, pose with two smaller cats, and have lunch with... More

My husband and I stayed the B&B and loved our time. The bungalows look like something you would see on an African Safari. We stayed in the Giraffe house and loved having a "ring side" view of the outdoor enclosure from our deck. The Ostrich walked right toward us and stopped in front of us the whole time we were... As a zoo, this place was a little weak. You can't walk around on your own. You can only go inside on a guided tour. They probably have fewer animals than you would expect, and the cages were pretty small. However, they seem to be doing a lot of work to build larger habitats for the animals, which is nice.... Although we regret that the low review score affected our overall rating which in turn makes it difficult for us to reach our goals, we appreciate this individuals awareness of our efforts to bring Monterey Zoo to it's full and completed future as funding and support affords us to. Our completed project will benefit both our animals and our community.... More

This was our second stay at Wild Things B&B an we love this place. Instead of rooms at an Inn, you get to stay in an African tent on a mesa overlooking the animal compound. The best part however is that each morning two African elephants bring you breakfast on the deck in front of your tent. Both times, we've... More
