About
A visit to Sherwin Family Vineyards, at the top of Spring Mountain above St. Helena, is like no other tasting experience. You will be treated to world-class wines in an idyllic setting overlooking the Estate’s vineyards and picturesque lake and fountain. Relax on the patio and sip a glass of Estate Cabernet while you enjoy a peaceful picnic on the deck. Or, on those chilly winter days, relax in front of a blazing fire in the beautifully appointed Tasting Room while enjoying Sherwin Family’s current releases. Whatever the season, your visit to Sherwin Family Vineyards will be a memorable experience that will linger, and the memory will enhance your enjoyment of the wines that you take home with you. We would love to show you a little Spring Mountain hospitality on your next visit to Napa Valley.

Fantastic setting with good wines

This little stop is out of the way Hugh in the spring mountain area. If you are seeking a lush setting for good wine, wonderful views and great hospitality reminiscent on old Napa this is your stop.

Hospitality extraordinaire! Wine is pretty good too.

High above the historic Napa valley through a twisting but picturesque drive we found Steve & Linda's beautiful Sherwin Family Vineyard. We were greeted by the head vintner and later their son Matt, who shared the history and devoted love of this mountain paradise of Cabernet grapes. Besides the setting, the tasting was superb and we left with several bottles, glasses and caps. It is on the road less traveled, but oh so worth it. Don't miss.

Beautiful setting for great wine

We had a lovely tasting seated beneath the trees in the garden area behind the house. Our host was gracious and knowledgeable and the wines were wonderful. I especially enjoyed their Cabernet Sauvignon and brought some home with me.

A piece of heaven to enjoy!!!!

My family visited here on behalf of my birthday to enjoy a wonderful picnic and wine tasting experience that reached beyond expectations. Our friendly host Tim was delightful in expressing his enthusiasm for a tremendous winery success story. This 30acre vineyards built in 1996 produces a unique array of wine products that honors our servicemen and women who helped us all in the aftermath of the 9-11 incident. You will recognize that the American flag is imprinted on a number of their gift sets to honor our dedicated responders. I heavily recommend you make a appointment and pack a picnic and visit this beautiful vineyard on top of Spring Mountain.

Make the drive up the mountain, you won’t be disappointed. We called about 30 minutes before opening on Monday and they were able to book us for a tasting at 10:30. The drive up the mountain is beautiful, as is the Sherwin Family Vineyard. Donna helped us that morning and she was very hands off, serving the wines and letting us enjoy the morning with their wines. All wines were excellent. We asked if she had an open bottle of their Reserve Cab that we could try. There wasn’t one opened, but she did open one for us even though it wasn’t included in the tasting. Needless to say it was spectacular and we left with a bottle of the Reserve and the Estate cab. We will be ordering a couple flag bottles when it’s not so hot out. We ran out of room in our box, but those bottles are awesome!

EXCELLENT AGAIN

Sherwin is a special place. It starts with the drive up the winding road to the summit of Spring Mountain in dappled sunlight filtering through redwood trees with occasional glimpses of other mountain wineries. Once there, it is peaceful, the flagship estate Cabernets are first class and the hospitality is relaxed and personal. And, as if that is not enough, there is the story of how Sherwin is the only US producer of alcoholic beverages allowed to feature the full Stars & Stripes, which it captures on beautifully crafted bottles, and other stories involving the CEO of the Sherwin-Williams Paint Company and many more. It's a quiet place, off the beaten track but with so much to reward those who make the drive up the mountain. If you go, be sure to ask about the stories that Tom & Linda Sherwin's determination and generosity have brought to this little piece of heaven.

Great Family Winery
Dec 2018 • Couples
nice and winding drive up the Mountain, it is a small and very beautiful winery and the wines especially the Reds were great, we ended up buying 3 bottles of their Scraps Wine and the host was very nice and interesting hearing how they are the only alcohol place allowed to use the American Flag on their Bottles

Best winery with amazing views

I’d like to start by saying the drive up spring mountain to Sherwin family vineards was amazing- you travel on a winding road through redwoods and little vineyards the whole time. When we got to the winery Donna greeted us with a wonderful smile. The wines were amazing and the view over the lake was unreal. 10/10 would go back.

Beautiful patio for a picnic but thats about it.

We loved the setting but it must have been an off day. We had read the reviews and were very excited when we planned our trip. Unfortunately, the visit and tasting did not meet our expectations. The wines we tasted were nothing special and Donna who was pouring our tastings did not share anything about the wines with us or engage us in any conversation. In fact, it was a very strange feeling and we couldn’t wait to finish our lunch and leave. With so many wineries to choose from, I would skip this one.

Hi Susie, I am so sorry that you had a poor experience at our winery. We have have never received a review like this and would really like to make it up to you. I would love to personally pour you a glass of wine and show you around the winery. Regardless, we appreciate the feed back and wish you great travels and experiences in the future.
