This was by far our favorite tasting and tour. A very in depth tour, beautiful grounds, a knowledgeable guide, and delicious wines. We joined their wine club, and are currently enjoying the wines sent. The experience was one of casual elegance... loved it.More

Day Trip from St. Helena to Sonoma (3 Replies)
My friends and I have been in St. Helena for the past few days & have decided to do a full day in Sonoma tomorrow, so we're looking for recommendations for winery stops along the way. We have the full day to drive with dinner at Girl & Fig around 7 pm. Someone recommended that we drive highway 116 with a stop at Armstrong Park. As for wineries, we love Cabs & other reds. As a reference point, our favorite wineries in St. Helena have been Pride, Bravante, Chappellet & Long...More

If you are interested in Sonoma Valley wineries, I would forget about going out to Guerneville. That would be a day trip in itself. For Sonoma Valley, just head over the hill from St. Helena via Spring Mountain Road and then head down Hwy 12 to Kenwood. There's a number of fine wineries there and also in Glen Ellen. Then you can drive to the town of Sonoma for your dinner at Girl and the Fig. Best to ask in the Sonoma forum for Sonoma winery recommendations. Enkidu is having its 5th...More

July Itinerary, Please Critique :) (5 Replies)
This will be our 3rd trip to NorCal wine country, 2nd trip to Napa Valley. Wife and I have diverse red wine preferences, so a lot of the fun for us is just the quest to find something we both really like. We like to take our time at tastings, we don't like to rush, we want to make good buying decisions, and we love being outdoors. We like to leave some flexibility in our schedule, but this can be difficult given that we'll need appointments at some of the wineries we want to visit. This is...More

I can comment on some parts of your itinerary. For Thursday, I have tasted at Hall on Hwy 29, a more logical stop after Brix, and liked their wines. I also really liked Miner because they had a wide variety of affordable, good wines, but they are on the Silverado Trail so maybe better done after Plumpjack. I like their wine ok, but liked wine from their other winery Cade better. I don't know if they still let you taste those or not. We discovered Chappellet last year and loved it as well....More
