Always great with the best Cabs!
Enjoyed our midweek visit to Hall! Not crowded like the weekend, so it made it very relaxing. Our host, Ray, is a talented professional who knows his stuff. A great host and asset to the Hall organization! Wonderful tastings here with terrific Cabs. New additions of Walt Pinot Noirs are also great. This is a very nice tasting venue if you are in the Napa Valley. These wines are not inexpensive, but worth every penny if you love wine.

    Do the tour!
Definitely do the tour! It's a really good value, a lot of other wineries will charge a lot more for that kind of tasting & tour. JJ was awesome, provided great information about HALL, Napa and Craig & Kathryn. Great history here, love the art influence, and some true Napa style cabs. Lots of discussion around how the wines are produced, including a video, and then the tasting was concluded in a private room which was really nice. Thoroughly enjoyed all the wines, and felt we were given a good representation of their entire portfolio. At the conclusion, JJ gave us some great recommendations as well. Would definitely return!

    Every Wine a Hit
When I visit Napa Valley, I typically gravitate towards small family wineries in the less known AVAs. This time I stayed at an Inn located within walking distance of Hall Wines, so I decided to give them a try. And I’m glad I did. I can’t recall a wine tasting where every wine placed in front of me was a resounding hit. Hall knocked it out of the park! I made reservations for The Art of Cabernet tasting, which included: Ellie’s (2016), Eighteen-Seventy Three (2016), Jack’s (2016), Bergfield (2016). Beyond that, I also tasted Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain, and Walt Bosella Pinot Noir (2018). Hall has vineyards in many of the Napa AVAs. Their tasting experiences provide a chance to taste the differences, and you will. You can compare a mountain AVA blend vs Hall estate. You can taste the different between Howell and Diamond Mountain AVAs. It is quite fascinating. A must-do for Cabernet lovers. I don’t think Hall normally has Walt wines available but as I and my wine drinking friends also enjoy Pinot Noir, I made an inquiry. Our wine educator said they had only the Walt Bosella available, and that it is their most highly rated Pinot Noir. Indeed. It is one of the best Pinot Noir wines I’ve had. The outdoor wine tasting area is huge and comfortable. There is plenty of room for social distancing. If you enjoy contemporary art, you’ll want to take a look at the outdoor collection. You can also see some pieces by peering through the glass into the winery and also during the check-in process.

I came into Hall a bit hesitant because it seemed like a highly trafficked place with perhaps some gimmicky art outside to pull unsuspecting tourists in. I'm sure everyone who has come to Napa has seen the huge bunny on the main highway through the Valley. Overall it wasn't so bad, but it wasn't the best winery I visited on this trip either.

The tasting room has a bit of a weird setup. It's more like a bar and less like a winery if that makes sense. Inside it's standing room only, but they have some seating on the outside patio (although it's limited and fills up quick). We were there in the afternoon and sat outside but the sun was at a bit of an annoying angle (right in our face) and because the building is fully glass and highly reflective there was no escaping the glare.

As for the tasting, it's $60 but they give you a good amount of wine. It's 6 wines total, and they're all Napa Cab which is pricey. I wasn't really impressed by most of the wines, I felt they were all overpriced. But, when we got to the last one, the Kathryn Hall, I was impressed. That's probably the best Cab I've ever had, but at $225 I wasn't taking a bottle home.

I went to 9 different wineries on this trip and this is the only place I did not buy bottles at because I thought they were all overpriced. To be fair almost all Napa Cab is overpriced, and their tasting is all Napa Cabs so in some sense it's expected. But there's so many other wines I'd rather buy at $80 than their lower end Cabs, and I've tasted other Cabs at $30-40 (not from Napa) that were as good as these.

Also, note that because this tasting is all Cabs, and they're all higher alcohol wines, you're probably going to walk out of here pretty buzzed. So get a designated driver :)

I want to try the Kathryn Hall again sometime in the future, but other than that I'm not interested in revisiting this winery.

This was our first trip to Napa and although it was during the covid pandemic, the wineries did not disappoint. We really enjoyed Hall Winery as we sat outside in the midst of beautiful vineyards in the heart of Napa. Our host was Celeste and she went out of her way to make sure our visit was perfect! To the variations of red wines and the Kathryn Hall vertical tastings; she presented us with perfect pours of lovely reds. Celeste was always attentive, friendly and had a personality to do which she does best.....serve you and please you with wine selections. She has even called to check on our orders since we have been back as I had some questions. She is what customer service is about. Yes, we joined the wine club and look forward to enjoying many bottles being shipped from Hall in the future! If you are out there, ask for Celeste!

You'll know you've arrived when you see the large silver statue of a bunny on the side of the road. As soon as we get out of the car, I'm surrounded by the scent of heaven. Walking closer, we see the beds of lavender. Even Dylan, our dog, goes into the landscaped beds for a closer sniff. I'm wearing a mask as we enter the visitors center, but that doesn't prevent me from enjoying the relaxing scent of the lavender. We're asked to keep our masks on here, even outdoors, until we get to our seated area. Today's wine tasting focus at Hall is on their red wines. For some reason, I'm having a problem with red wines lately. I love them, but they don't love me. I mention this to Steve, our wine presenter, and he suggests some Hall White wines instead and brings me a selection. It's a good thing we ate a big lunch, or this would be way too much wine for us. We enjoy every sip. I take Dylan out for a walk through the vineyards for some photos, and to see some of the quirky sculptures scattered around the property. We leave Steve with a nice tip and head north to Calistoga.

We booked a tasting at this modern looking winery. A silver statue of a giant bunny greets you. The tour starts at the open area near the entry near large statues of camel and sheep. A refreshing glass of sauvignon blanc starts off the tour. Our guide takes the group to the pressing room and other rooms of the main building filled with contemporary art. The reds we taste near the vineyards. You can taste merlot or cabernet grapes from the vine. Very relaxing tour.

We visited this winery as we discussed business ventures. Deanna was our “wine educator “ and she was fantastic. Just the right balance of knowledge without overloading us with unwanted grape history. The wines were delicious and she brought out a few of her favorites that we ended up purchasing.
The setting is spectacular on an outdoor patio overlooking the vineyards and the structure of the winery itself is decorated with beautiful art.
You should definitely put this on your list of “must see” on your trip to the Napa Valley.

My sister is ere for work so I traveled from Philadelphia to spend my birthday here with her. HALL Wines was by far my favorite part of my visit to the NoCal area. With effective Covid guidelines in place, they ensured my safety was priority, yet also my experience. Alison was extraordinarily exceptional. From eloquently describing the wines, to checking on us in a timely fashion, we for certain felt like a part of the HALL family. Would 100% visit again!

Recently visited HALL and it was an amazing experience! The art and views this winery offers are beautiful and create a relaxing, enjoyable experience. We got paired up with JJ who provided top level service. He was very fun to be around and kept us engaged with his extensive knowledge. He had a lot to share with us on the wine as well as HALL’s history. Thanks, JJ! Will definitely be back soon!

We enjoyed our tasting at Hall. The pours were generous compared to some of the other wineries. It is a little busier that some others so less personal attention and information provided about the wines but still a really enjoyable afternoon.

My husband and I paid for the Art of Cabernet tasting. The tasting was standing up at the bar the whole time. The bar room was very modern, stainless steel, windows ceiling to floor. The server was very nice, knowledgeable and didn’t rush us. You could bring your wine outside on the patio or deck but there was no sitting and everything e you finished the wine you had to go back to the bar to get the next taste. They did not come to you. It was commercialized and we probably would not recommend it. The wines themselves were good, smooth and silky and we did buy a few bottles. They take care of the shipping for you , but if you’re looking for a great winery experience Hall was not that special.

This was our favorite winery of the trip. The cabernet experience was delightful. We got so much information about the different wines we tried. The tasting felt well-priced for the amount of delicious, expensive wine we tasted. The grounds were gorgeous, the wine was delicious, and our host was wonderful. MUST VISIT.
