While it’s a cute boutique winery with a nicely remodeled building and views down to the lake, the price for the wine tasting (no tour) was too much as was the distance to get there. We were seated inside by the entrance despite plenty of tables and seats outside with views and the charcuterie board was underwhelming compared with comparable tastings. The only saving grace for the tasting was the petite sirah. With so many other excellent value-for-money tastings in the valley, there is no need to make this one.

Our first and last visit. We phoned several times to confirm our tasting time, but no answer. Took 40 minutes to get there from Napa. Very pretty drive. The property is beautiful. We opted for the $95 per person Winemaster’s Selection Tasting. Way, way overpriced compared to much better wineries in the area and for what was included. The wines were marginal, at best. The website photo for this tasting shows a grand charcuterie display, but Ryan advised only a few salty crackers were included. No opportunity to get the tasting fee comped if we bought wines, only if we joined the wine club. No thanks! Can’t recommend this experience at all and we won’t be back.

Some of their wine is actually very good (Petite Syrah), but this is one of the worst wine tastings I have had in a decade. On top of not waiving wine tasting fees at any level of wine purchases (which I have never experienced at even the most high end wineries), we were served a very obvious skunked bottle of wine to taste. We were provided a new glass and a new bottle top taste, but skunked wine should never make it to the guests. Further, our wine tasting host disappeared for 15 minutes at a time in another room, while we sat with empty glasses. Not saying that you should not give the place a try - as it seems like this place is in transition and could be much better two years from now, but proceed with caution.

Last year my husband and I found Maxville and went for a visit and had a great time and found the wines to be pretty good. We joined the wine club and even looked forward to going back and taking advantage of our benefits.

We had a bit of difficulty getting it scheduled but finally got thru and set up a visit my us and our friend who were visiting for the first time. We went the extra mile and upgraded our experience OR so we thought.

We also scheduled about 2 months in advance or more. Upon arrival this week we had high hopes and were really looking forward to an even better experience than last time.

NOPE ! We arrived only to be told no one knew we were coming. But someone took us to the bar and stared pouring and told us to sit tight their host would be there shortly. We informed them that we had booked the ATV experience as well. They said they could not help but perhaps the host could.

The host arrived and came over and looked perplexed and said well sorry we didn't know you were coming. ( news to us ). We are wine CLUB members and thought it will be ok they will take care of us. But NOPE, he immediately told us that not only could he absolutely not take us on the ATV tour we booked but he had a group arriving for a wine dinner event at 5 !

I mean wow, I have never been made to feel so very unwelcome at a winery esp one I had joined and spent north of $1000 at in the past year on various wines. He proceeds to run thru the wines then the next group arrived and we were we escorted to the door basically. Did we want anything else. Want to purchase blah blah. Are you freaking kidding me?

I am a very patient person but when I feel that not only was I not given what I booked, no one really seemed to care.

Needless to say I am no longer a member and will not recommend to anyone ever again.

Thank you so much for sharing feedback. We indeed did not have you on our books, we actually email all reservations a confirmation & when searching past employees accounts unfortunately found no communications regarding this or a reservation. We stopped this experience about 10 months ago & we're a very small team so we can't figure out how this ever was booked 2months or even more in advance. We also sold the ATV's so there was no possible way we could've even attempted to rectify this. We did have just one staff member showering for a dinner group when you arrived & he hustled over to try to give you an experience, though obviously not what you hoped for. He certainly wasn't expecting the dinner group to arrive early either. On behalf of Maxville, I deeply apologize to you & your friends but hope you understand we were equally as disheartened by the inability to give you what you were expecting or even close. If you're ever back in the area I'd be happy to personally give you a world class experience worth remembering for the right reasons. We do value all our customers & members. All the best & happy holidays! Doug

I love tasting in Napa and I especially love Maxville. So many tastings feel less personal around the valley these days, however Maxville comes with a personal touch. I felt cared for and learned so much from the people on their team about their wines and about wine in general. The setting is gorgeous and it is the perfect setting to relax and enjoy.

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE - so intimate and fun
Doug (Owner / Manager?) is absolutely incredible. I found Maxville through Local Wally Napa Guide and so happy I did. I threw a surprise birthday for my Husband here and we took a party bus from SF city up here. It is quite a drive from the city but totally worth it. Doug was so accommodating for our group of ~15 and had everything prepared. We loved our experience and I would highly recommend this hidden gem!

Our best visit during our trip to Napa! We visited Domaine Carneros, B.Cellars, Davis Estates, Grgich, and Prager Port. We had a nice visit at all of those vineyards, but none of them came close to the hospitality, friendliness and generosity that Ryan Morales showed us during our tasting at Maxville. The newly remodeled grounds are gorgeous, the wines were fantastic, as was meeting Cullen...a member of the wine making team. The entire visit was spot on from the minute we arrived, to the tour of the grounds, to the tasting. Exceptional, proud to be a club member at Maxville...can't wait until our next visit!

This is a fairly new winery that is working to become a destination. The drive through Chiles Valley to get there is beautiful, and worth the trip just for that. The team here is making major investments in developing the winery to be a destination, and together with the very good wine, they are getting there. Call ahead to make an appointment. Beautiful location, beautiful views, interesting facility, nice hospitable people and good wine. Can't ask for much more.
