- Jennifer DChicago, Illinois134 contributionsLast Minute Tasting & TourWe closed down a few other wineries, but still had the desire to catch one more. Beringer offered a later tour that included a wine cave, so we booked it. It was a small group of 9 and our guide was very friendly adapting to us and the other guests very well. It was fun to get the history of how wine started in Napa and I would recommend it!Visited February 2020Written March 6, 2020
- Georgianna CMakati, Philippines100 contributionsPerfect for those who are visiting Napa for the first timeDid the Taste of Beringer Tour last November. While I understand it is a bit pricier compared to other tours and tastings, my fiance and I chose this because it was also our first time in Napa and the history of this vineyard does intertwine a bit with the history of Napa. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our tour and loved how chill and unpretentious our tour guide was (I feel so bad I can't seem to remember the name of our guide. Jon I think? Sorry!). It was casual as we walked around the property while sipping on white wine. The snacks paired with our wine was pretty good too and our guide was knowledgeable without making us feel intimidated. As he would say, we don't have to follow the "rules" of drinking wine with what. If we enjoy it, that's great! It also helped that we were a small group. We were 8 persons in total so we were able to listen to the guide clearly and were able to talk to each other as well. Would definitely recommend this to those visiting Napa for the first time. Beringer has good wine and a lovely property.Visited November 2019Written February 27, 2020
- Andy MTemecula, California73 contributionsDon't waste your time, and the front entrance staff was badPretty spot, but the people at the gate were less than helpful or friendly. They just said "Sip and stroll? How many?" Then said the other lady would pour the wine, then got overly talkative when it came to encouraging a large tip (it defaults at 20 dollars...for a 20 dollar glass of cheap wine and if you give less they are pretty snarky about it). So you pay for the grounds walk really, but it was pretty empty. The historic mansion was closed off and there were signs everywhere saying only for wine club members (or whatever they called it). It was the only place open that took walk in guests that we saw so we gave it a shot as we were in the area but I would not recommend it. Especially since the wine they make sells for under 5 dollars a bottle at Ralphs.Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten August 11, 2023
- allenl140811 contributionsPoor ExperienceWe never ended up visiting because I had such a poor experience trying to secure a reservation. I had lined up a handful of wineries to visit with my wife and had asked each one if we could split a tasting (from a consumption standpoint not a financial standpoint). The woman that was setting up my reservation completely ignored my request and wasted my time. When we got to the end of our conversation, she gave me a total and when I asked if that was a total for a split tasting, she responded with 'we don't do that'. I thought it was interesting because she had all of my contact information in her system from an affiliated winery that clearly allowed split tastings. At all of the tastings we attended we tipped for two tastings and typically bought wine. Unfortunately, Beringer (and treasury wines) has lost my business. Well played.Visited August 2022Written August 21, 2022
- Corey C26 contributionsBest host, best cheese place, amazing wine and stunning locationWe LOVED our host, Maurice, during our patio wine tasting. He was incredibly funny, personable and answered all our questions. We can't wait to go back to tour the absolutely stunning grounds. Highly recommend getting the cheese board as well as for the price, you get a LOT of amazing cheeses and snacks (plus we got to keep the cheese board). None of the other local vineyard had as good a value as here.Visited March 2022Written March 22, 2022

Note that due to COVID restrictions you need an appointment to enter the property now. We were directed to go to the Rhine house, the breathtakingly beautiful mansion and were greeted by a person who seated us outside. The sommelier was very courteous and explained each pour. He gave us good background of the wines and answered all our questions. After we were done, he suggested us to walk around and have a look at the property and suggested some good locations. We loved the grounds and the pics we took. We highly recommend a visit.Visited February 2021Written March 2, 2021
- Pauline C1 contributionNot worth your time, money or taste! Classless and non-educationalAs a wine tour that costs $30 for 1/2 glass of wine and $10 for my 20 year old to wander the ground. A huge waste of time and money. The self- tour begin within a small dark building with wine barrels. Next on the tour was a small outdoor area with a few vines (not in season with grapes, What happened to a real tour that you had someone talk to you about wines and actually taste a few small samplings (not just somehow to take your $70)? - JohnsoncabiMinnesota96 contributionsHost + winery = excellentWe were greeted so warmly on entering the winery and it was explained where we should go (reservation for the Rhine House). Our host was very charming (Adam) and seemed to really take the time to explain some things. That particular day it was a little windy so I liked the inside reservation although the patio areas looked nice too. I just really wanted to be inside the historic house and was glad we were. Our pours were nicely done and we did buy some wine. Unforatuenly the gift shop was closed that day so a little disappointed we couldn't buy wine glasses right then and there. The gardens were wonderful to walk around and we did walk into the caves part (checked first it was ok) and found some interesting displays. Would return again!Visited October 2021Written October 14, 2021

Having paid $134 for two self guided tours and two charcuterie boards I found it not to be value for money. The self guided tour was 7 QR code boards which I scanned with my phone on a short walk around the gift shop and wine cellar.
I paid for two charcuterie boards but when I arrived I was given one board which was wrapped in cling film and told I could find somewhere to sit outside and eat it. When I questioned this I was told it was for two people even though the same board in the refrigerator was priced at $32.
All very disappointing and not worth the money.

Gisele had no knowledge of any of the wines. She showed a map of the vineyards and walked away. No information of any type was given and she acted bored to even be there. Wines were already poured when we walked in and in this time of Covid, not sure that was a good idea. We like to see the bottle and the label. Not possible with Gisele. For a library tasting in the Rhine House, we expected more. In 15 years of coming to Napa area, this was the worst tasting we have ever experienced. I will state that we've been to Beringer several times in the past and this was not the way we were treated. I know the wineries are short on staff, but she has no business working with the public.

My husband and I, along with our traveling companions, toured the Beringer Vineyards on August 20, 2023. Our tour guides were Daniela and Taylor. Both young ladies did a fabulous job of telling the story of the Beringer family and their wine making operation. We were able to go into the caves and heard several charming stories from the history of the winery. We also got to taste several varietals, all of which were delicious. Highly recommend!

Hi Heather
We are proud to see over 20,000 Guests each year enjoying the Legacy Cave Tour! There is an opportunity to learn about our history, a tasting of 3 wines and explore our 142 year old legacy - there are definitely a few jokes along the way! We hope to see you soon

After a tour, are you free to roam the grounds and check it out? I really want to see the outside of the big house.

Hello Heather
The grounds and both tasting rooms - the Old Winery and the Rhine House are open to the public. The downstairs of the Rhine House houses our Reserve Tasting Room, no appointment necessary and our luxury gift shop. Is this winery nice just to stop in and visit, enjoy the vineyards etc...or is a tour a must? I see the cave tour is only 30 min..wondering if I would be happy just to visit for an hour and do an elevated tasting and just enjoy the grounds. There are only so many tours one can do, so I am in the process of deciding where to tour and where to just visit more casually.

What are the hours in May? Wasn't sure if they are different compared to the hours posted now in the winter? Also, do we need to make reservations for basic tasting on a sunday afternoon, we will be on a tighter schedule. Thanks!

The Legacy Cave Tour times are divided into two areas with the details defined slightly differently. One mentions "caves" and the other mentions "tunnels." Is there a difference, if if so, please describe the difference.

I went into the cave and I didn't see any tunnels other than the cave so I think its the same thing. We mainly toured outside on the property and then went to the tasting room. It was fabulous!

Do you have wifi at the visitors center so we can request Uber or lyft to pick us up after the tasting?

Yes - we recently installed guest Wi-Fi so you can log on and have access to all your favorite apps. We do encourage Lyft and Uber so you can enjoy our delicious wines AND get home safely. Cheers!

Is there an admission fee to walk around the estate and visit the building? I am interested in seeing the winery but not sampling wine.
Thank you.

There is not. You many wander around the grounds, however there are a few restricted areas that you would have to pay for a tour to access.
