About
**CLOSED FOR A LONG VACATION - PLEASE CHECK BACK IN THE FALL** Looking for somewhere off-the-beaten-path & refreshingly different in Napa Valley? Come visit this iconic Napa Valley boutique winery, hidden away on Spring Mountain, just minutes from downtown St. Helena. Grab a rocks glass - your tour begins with an aperitif & 'Distilling 101' where you'll learn the how this 13-generation winemaking/distilling family makes classic Alambic brandy. From there, you'll get introduced to Charbay's classic small-lot wines, as well as Napa Valley's favorite port - made with our 30-year collection of Alambic brandies. Humidor of handrolled cigars available to enjoy on the winery patio. Pair it with your favorite wine or port & enjoy the Napa Valley countryside. Charbay is one of the only wineries in the U.S. that distills its own brandy to create the ports and aperitifs you'll remember.

Drove 3 hours to visit their facility only to find out that they are no longer open to the public. Website still lists their distillery address but no hours and has no reference to their tasting room that is somewhere?? What a waste of an afternoon in Napa.

We’ve made numerous trips to Napa and have gone back to Domaine Charbay every time. The tasting experience at Domaine Charbay is unlike anything you’ll find at other wineries and offers far more opportunities to appreciate more than just a few varieties of wine. Be prepared to spend an hour or longer with John and their wonderful creations and be prepared to have your eyes and minds opened as so many of their wonderful elixirs are entirely unique.

We had a great time at Charbay. Most unique tasting we’ve done in Napa or Sonoma. John was super friendly and knowledgeable about both wine and spirit distilling.

Visiting the winery and having a 'private' tasting with John was a truly awesome experience. His personality, knowledge and kindness was a delight. Not to mention, the wine, spirits and cigars were tasty. I would recommend this experience for those looking for an intimate setting in Napa.

All five of us loved our visit to Charbay. The host spent a lot of time with us giving history of the winery and how to distill hard spirits. The ports were outstanding; sweet enough for the late harvest wine drinkers among us and a lot of flavor with a bite for the Cab drinkers

The visit to Charbay is always a little like seeing an old friend. No matter how long between visits, each time we make it back there we feel right at home again. Every time we get to St Helena and take the drive up Spring Mountain Road, we know we will find both great tastings and a friendly greeting from John and the entire Charbay Winery family!! This visit was no different! Well, there was one difference, this time we came with some of the extended family, which included a new Grandson. I am sure in another 21 years, he will be back with his parents again, hopefully enjoying the experience as much as we did. I would HIGHLY recommend that you make it a point to visit this gem when you are in the area. The product they put in your glass is excellent and truly unique, just like the entire Charbay ambiance.

Charbay Winery and Distillery is a must see when you're traveling to the Napa area. My wife and I were there for an anniversary trip and loved our time with John at Charbay. John was engaging, thorough, and informed. The Cab was the best we had on our trip! We enjoyed the tour, the tasting, and the overall experience. Put this off the beaten path stop on your list!

So I happened to find Charbay while on google maps and let me tell you it is an awesome place. The tasting was great and John was excellent. I would recommend this place to everyone. Sometimes the hidden gems are ones we want and Charbay fits the bill.

This was the first tour on our three day visit. They offered a wide variety of different types of beverages, not just wine. The blue label port was absolutely outstanding. I bought a bottle to bring home and it didn't make it 12 hours. I just ordered a case to go.

We came to this little winery/distillery during our tour on Platypus. Our group of 15 people thought this was the highlight of our wine tour. John was a great host and walked us through the process of the various liquors and port wine that they make and how they should taste and be served. It was fascinating and quite fun. My husband and I ordered items and joined their wine club. The shipments were received promptly and without any trouble. We will be back and hope to become long time customers. I would highly recommend to those looking for something just a little different than a standard winery.
