I've driven across this bridge many times as it is the entrance to the downtown area from West Sac. It's old and a bit of an icon and reminds you that this city is very much a river city.

We have wanted to do the tour for ages but it’s always been so busy. As it’s quieter at the moment we decided to take advantage. It was very good and informative and for just over £10.00 each absolutely worth it. Recommend.

An interesting and historic lift bridge along the Sacramento River separating Sacramento, Sacramento county from West Sacramento of Yolo county. The bridge does occasionally lift up for boat crossings. It was painted a rusty orange which has now oxidized to it's current gold color the color of the Golden State with it's gold rush history. The bridge has pedestrian pathways on both sides. Visitors can tour downtown Sac walking through Old Sac old town along the river piers and then cross the bridge and walk along the river shore pedestrian walk on the west side, or catch a baseball game. Fireworks is shot off on west of the bridge during Fourth of July and New Years Eve. …

Great to learn more about this iconic structure. Really good views from the walk ways on both sides, not to mention the glass flòor. If you have a rail csrd it is 2 for 1 entry, and well worth it. Even the engines are remarkable. Walk to the Belfast for coffee and cake afterwards.…
