It's interesting to visit a building that is both a historic museum and working seat of state government. We tagged along with a tour and heard some interesting tidbits about the senate and assembly chambers and picture gallery. It would be interesting to observe sometime when they were in session. Interesting museum exhibits and displays of each county in California.... More

Our group was a little late arriving through security so the tour was quick. Given 46 people, it was at time hard to hear the docent. That said, the docent was excellent with great information, insights and humor.

Interesting and informative. We stopped in on a Saturday and took the first tour at 9. Lasts about 45 min and covered both chambers and a few rooms like the Treasury Room, Rotunda, and chambers. The tour is free and you sign up in the basement. The library archives also had a few interesting books and maps from their collection.

We were staying near the Capitol so we got there early before 10am and we were able to join the 10am tour. This was very worthwhile, the guide took us to the upper chambers which were closed because it was a weekend. He was very good and kept his group consisting of children to seniors interested and amused. The dome... More

We visited on s Saturday afternoon in early September. The dome inside is absolutely beautiful. We took a tour at our own pace and made our way through seeing everything in about 2 hours. We enjoyed sitting in the gallery overlooking the state senate floor and imagining all the men and women who had served the state of California over... More

This is a must-see when coming to Sacramento. 15 years ago I had my wedding on the grounds of the state capitol! It was absolutely gorgeous. The historical effects of this Monument is spectacular! I would highly recommend the tour and a walk around the grounds. My spouse and I come quite a bit and just take a walk around... More

Doesn't matter if you are a California resident or not don't miss seeing the State Capitol building. It is a grand building situated on park like grounds in downtown Sacramento. There are free guided tours and the tour guides are very knowledgeable. The building has stunning architecture and is packed with history and information. Don't miss it.

On our first touring visit to Sacramento, we had the opportunity to tour the California State Capitol. The guide (free tours) was both informative, and open to extended questions from visitors. A must-visit location.

Not a museum person. But, i enjoyed the visit. They could have exhibits to see, but for what it was it was nice.
