Local Roots Food Tours offers food and farm adventures throughout Sacramento and its beautiful valley region. We offer 3 different walking food and cultural tours in Sacramento. Going beyond the big city - our other walking food tour can be found in picturesque Murphys,CA. Murphys Food & Wine Tour explores the Queen of the Sierra - a wonderful mining town with 8 delicious stops including food and wine. Ranked #1 Tour in Sacramento by Trip Advisor. Each tour offers a large variety of tastings (10+), while visiting 6-10 different specialty food shops, artisans, and neighborhood restaurants. All of our tours are offered year-round, last between 3.5 to 4 hours and range between $42 - $70, depending on the tour. The tours focus on F.L.O.S.S. (fresh, local, organic, seasonal, and sustainable) foods and beverages. Enough food is served on each tour that most guests consider it a meal. Savor, learn, explore and connect to some amazing communities and their culinary dishes.

This walking historical fabulous progressive food tour is a "must do" in Sacramento. The restaurants featured all fresh, flavorful, farm to fork delicious delights. Our tour guide, Dawnie, was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable as she shared interesting historical information. Don't miss out on this tour. 5 stars at the very least for rating this tour.

This tour was excellent. It combined great food with short walks in between food. During the walks many points of interest and their history were described. Get an insider view of local Sacramento history and sample gourmet food. It is an exceptionally pleasant way to spend a few hours. If you do nothing else in Sacramento, do this. Plan ahead... More

We took the 7/15/16 Origins of Sacaramento tour with a great guide. Don't worry that you'll just get little samples of food. We were full of great food and little tidbits of information about Sacramento --both history and current restaurants and chefs. Our guide obviously knew a lot about the restaurant scene and enjoyed giving tours. If I lived in... More

Ok, lets start with how professional these folks are. I tried to book the tour late and the internet would not take my booking.....less than 24 hours before the tour....makes sense. So I send an email and the owner Donnie calls me back. She could not have been nicer! We arrive for the tour and meet our tour guide Ciara... More

We had a great walking tour. Visiting a Mexican restaurant, then a sandwich shop, a spice shop, tea shop, candy store and ice cream shop. My favorite was the sandwich shop with Apple, herb cream cheese on focaccia grilled cheese. Second favorite was the Mexican soup at mayahuel. Our tour guide was energetic, knowledgeable and clearly loves her city. Lisa

The tour was really nice (we did the historical one). At the beginning I was thinking that maybe 3 and a half hours was going to be too long, but it wasn't! Millie, our tour guide, was great, very entertaining! The tour was even longer than 3h and a half and, as the time passed it got better! We went... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my Local Roots Food Tour experience! The tour guide, Cearra, was a wealth of knowledge and ensured my mom and I were well taken care of. Each destination was selected for a reason, and a bit of Sacramento history was incorporated on the route. Highly recommend for any occasion, even if you are already a local.

I needed to find a fun birthday gift for a teen and this was perfect! Everyone loves food, right? We had 5 stops and enjoyed each place immensely. We are local to the area but learned a lot about Sacramento's downtown history and secret places. We enjoyed Mexican food, California cuisine, specialty candies, a local coffee shop and finished off... More
