Local Roots Food Tours offers food and farm adventures throughout...

Local Roots Food Tours offers food and farm adventures throughout Sacramento and its beautiful valley region. We offer 3 different walking food and cultural tours in Sacramento. Going beyond the big city - our other walking food tour can be found in picturesque Murphys,CA. Murphys Food & Wine Tour explores the Queen of the Sierra - a wonderful mining town with 8 delicious stops including food and wine. Ranked #1 Tour in Sacramento by Trip Advisor. Each tour offers a large variety of tastings (10+), while visiting 6-10 different specialty food shops, artisans, and neighborhood restaurants. All of our tours are offered year-round, last between 3.5 to 4 hours and range between $42 - $70, depending on the tour. The tours focus on F.L.O.S.S. (fresh, local, organic, seasonal, and sustainable) foods and beverages. Enough food is served on each tour that most guests consider it a meal. Savor, learn, explore and connect to some amazing communities and their culinary dishes.

Ok, lets start with how professional these folks are. I tried to book the tour late and the internet would not take my booking.....less than 24 hours before the tour....makes sense. So I send an email and the owner Donnie calls me back. She could not have been nicer! We arrive for the tour and meet our tour guide Ciara... More

We had a great walking tour. Visiting a Mexican restaurant, then a sandwich shop, a spice shop, tea shop, candy store and ice cream shop. My favorite was the sandwich shop with Apple, herb cream cheese on focaccia grilled cheese. Second favorite was the Mexican soup at mayahuel. Our tour guide was energetic, knowledgeable and clearly loves her city. Lisa

Had a great experience doing the urban art tour. Food was outstanding and guide was awesome. Highly recommend doing a food tour. You get great food and history of the city as well.

The tour was really nice (we did the historical one). At the beginning I was thinking that maybe 3 and a half hours was going to be too long, but it wasn't! Millie, our tour guide, was great, very entertaining! The tour was even longer than 3h and a half and, as the time passed it got better! We went... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my Local Roots Food Tour experience! The tour guide, Cearra, was a wealth of knowledge and ensured my mom and I were well taken care of. Each destination was selected for a reason, and a bit of Sacramento history was incorporated on the route. Highly recommend for any occasion, even if you are already a local.

I needed to find a fun birthday gift for a teen and this was perfect! Everyone loves food, right? We had 5 stops and enjoyed each place immensely. We are local to the area but learned a lot about Sacramento's downtown history and secret places. We enjoyed Mexican food, California cuisine, specialty candies, a local coffee shop and finished off... More

A group of 8 of us rode the train from Reno to Sacramento for an overnight trip. I called Daunie, the owner of Food Tours, and asked for a tour for the Saturday that we would arrive. There were complications however. We were to arrive after the tour was to start and she already had a tour booked for that... More

Millie was enthusiastic and informed as she lead our group to several different sights explaining the history of buildings along the way. Our stops included seeing the old theater renovations and an appetizer in the adjoining basement restaurant, Andy's Candy samples, a bite to eat at the Ambrosia, Ice cream or sorbet at another place, and a beet salad and... And we felt like we were making new friends all over town. This tour is carefully planned to give the visitor to Murphys a sampling of good wine, good food, interesting history and current goings on, as well as a chance to meet great people!

We take pride in our tour guides being local and connected to their neighborhoods where we guide out tours. We want our tour participants to walk away feeling like they just had a good friend show them all the great hidden gems, share some local history and fun facts about the area and your review was such a nice surprise... My wife and I were fortunate to have a perfect weather day for our stroll around K St. The group met in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency on L Street. We thought the Poblano soup at Mayaheul's was delicious; We could have eaten many more of the petite toasted cheese and pear sandwiches at the Ambrosia cafe. I had... More
