We took some friends from out of state to see the Capitol and the adjacent Park. We were so glad the drought was over and the gardens were flourishing again. The Vietnam & Firefighters Memorial are quite impressive. There is an abundance of trees from all over the world. We always love the rose garden. The only draw back are... More

The Capital grounds are perhaps the nicest capital grounds I've explored. You are walking through a botanical garden, enhanced with a war memorial, a firefighter memorial and a peace officer memorial. Every tree that grows in this state is on display here, from Japane olive trees, blue spruce, to the giant redwoods (that suffer in the pollution) and some impressive... More

We walked around the park several days during our trip.We enjoyed the most the firefighter memorial. There were quite a bit of homeless people throughout the park. The second day we saw a large presence of police officers in cars and on bikes. I actually asked if we should be concerned about coming to the park that day, since it... More

There is a tremendous number of homeless people in Sacramento, they are laying all over the little parks and it was not a safe environment for children to be running around them.. So the Capitol Park was perfect for them to run to their hearts desire!

Warning if you don't like steel seats, bring your own chair. Other than that, this is a GREAT place to park your buns. For guys/girls (hope you are single) there are some very good looking joggers! Otherwise this is a great place to just sit outside and enjoy your sandwich or lunch!

Classically executed and beautifully set amongst verdant colonades. Once, a true gem among the nation's state capitols...not any longer. The Gov and Sacramento city officials should be ashamed. They are not of course. Hilariously, because the entire state's ruling class hail from the same party, blame is hard to assign. Oh, did i forget to mention how dangerous downtown, park... More

We didn't spend a lot of time at the park however the few moments that we visited were absolutely wonderful. The Vietnam Memorial and the Firefighter Memorial were absolutely beautiful. The landscape was meticulous.

There is no play equipment, so this park is not a "kid" destination. As a result, the squirrels are adorably tame -- they haven't been chased around and made nervous. Bring peanuts. They will come right up to you and take the peanut from your fingers. The gardens are interesting, beautiful and well-maintained. There are trees from all over the... More

CAPITOL Park is situated in the downtown Sacramento. The park has the most beautiful rose garden. People who want to get married can do it in the park. The beautiful well attended rose garden is truly beautiful. You'll see different varieties of roses.
