This is a beautiful park that enhances our state capitol. Apparently there are trees from all over the world. Each tree has a card telling what kind of tree it is. Presently the camelias are in bloom and are exquisite.

There are trees and plants from around the world and they are all well marked so you can learn to identify them. There are some that must have been there since the Capitol was built. They are huge! Nice walking paths around the whole park.

I have visited here many times over many years. It is very lovely most of the year, especially when the rose garden is in bloom. Usually it is a quiet place to just relax and enjoy the beauty around you. Lovely place for weddings.

The state capitol has taken many remodels over the 100 years it was built in the 1800's. Specifically in the 1970's a major restoration was completed to bring it back to it's majestic beauty. Great to explore on your own and/or in the week. It depends on if you want to see the Government and it's employees at work running... More

I put my Aunt and her family up at the Hyatt across the street before we took off on a central coast tour of CA. We grabbed a morning coffee and walked around the park checking out all the unexpected trees, each marked w both botanical and historical significance. It's both educational and beautiful. However, at the time, the park... More

For several years I walked through capital park twice a day while walking to and from my office. The camellias are in bloom much of the winter followed by Dogwood and magnolias in early spring and roses in late spring. It is much like a botanical garden as trees and some other plants are labeled. There is a cactus garden... More

The Capitol Park is amazing at it has so many different species of trees and plants. The park is large and sits on a large part of the State Capitol grounds. Be sure to visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Rose Garden along with a visit inside the Capitol while you are there. There are several great places to... More

Capitol Park surrounds the Capitol with the splendor of trees, shrubs, ponds, memorials, and even a rose garden with seating scattered throughout the park. Elegant, stylish, well maintained flora grace all four sides and many trees and plants are labeled should you be curious. There are defined walking trails, sidewalks, and public restrooms. Parking is available around the Capitol and... More
