The evening we wandered through the ground surrounding the capitol, there were many families there. A very peaceful place. We were surprised by four costumed mimes with 2 being stilt walkers.

We were visiting the capitol on a Saturday afternoon in September and thoroughly enjoyed walking around the park and taking in the majesty of the cedar trees. We are from southern Nevada and seeing those huge trees were quite the delight. We also enjoyed watching couples having wedding party photos taken under the trees as well...beautiful and relaxing.

The Capitol has changed over the years as far as how you enter and the security but over all it is educational and nice to take a peek inside. Not as lavish and big as other State Capitols but there is still some history to be seen. The grounds/park surrounding the capitol is beautiful and filled with large trees and... More

Capitol Park is a great place to visit while is Sacramento. It has wonderful gardens, an impressive diversity of trees and many monuments to groups and individuals who play a part in California history and life. It is also a place where kids can run around and burn some energy after a car ride while parents relax on one of... More

Dozens of squirrels flitting around some nice gardens and a few birds. There are mature trees however the two year drought here is very bad most of the trees are stressed even the palms and none of the fountains or ponds have any water. California’s interconnected water system is the world’s largest managing 40, 000,000 acre feet of water per... More

Excellent park for just relaxing. The rose garden is nice when no one is using it. I like to photograph the memorials as well as the exterior of the capitol. Lots of orange trees, but do not eat the oranges as they are usually bitter.

Took an evening walk in the park that was well maintained. Saw the roses and monuments in the park. It was good to have a nice park in the downtown area close to the hotel.

This is a beautiful park. There are majestic trees as well as beautiful rose and flower gardens. I strolled through the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, very moving - architecture and amazing statutes very well done. The grass is a little brown in spots due to the drought conditions in California. Other than that, it is a wonderful place to spend a... More

Beautiful scenery. Trees and shrubs are stunning. The state Capitol building is spectacular. The tours are great. Great location for a long walk or jog.
