Small zoo, great views of animals. Giraffe feeding, and small animal petting after a little show. Always have a great experience with some animal. Small enough to do in an hour or 2 so you don't take all day or get too exhausted especially with little ones.

Having grown up in Sacramento some of my fondest memories are of going to the zoo. This is a park like setting with wonderful animal exhibits. For the most part this is a quiet place to view and talk about the animals with your children. There are some very low key "amusment" type things to do here but if a... More

I have lived an hour or so south of Sacramento for 15 years before I even knew this zoo existed. I went with my kids on a school field trip. It was wonderful! I was able to take pictures, not have to worry about the kids. This zoo is a PERFECT size for this kind of group! The food and... More

My boyfriend and I took our daughter to the zoo multiple times and she is only a year and a half. No matter the age, our daughter has a blast! I recommend going in the morning because we got to see many of the animals out of their dens!

Love seeing all the animals.. They are mostly kept in clean cages and in closures . If it's a really hot summer day, they don't like to come out.. But in sept. Thru Feb. It's nice. Sometimes they close, if it's too rainy. Overall, it's a nice place to see some animals. The monkeys are funny, just don't get too... More

Sacramento zoo is not quite like I remember it as a kid, or even when my kids were kids. I took 3 of my grandchildren on a field trip yesterday to the zoo. My question....where have all the Bears, hippos and elephants gone? There were a lot of birds and smaller animals. Not so many bigger ones. One I saw... More

Don't expect the San Diego or the Bronx Zoo. Sacramento is a smallish town but the zoo is very good considering the city's size. Once a year during the summer they have a family camp out--an overnight at the zoo. Bring the kids! When I went, I woke up in the middle of the night and walked around. The nocturnal... More

Small but very cute zoo...staff is wonderful! Hot day and the ice cream was a great help. If you come in the Summer be prepared not to see all the animals due to the the heat

Took my granddaughter and daughter to this zoo. Weather was not great but we loved it anyway. The flamingo flock was noisy but awesome, loved the big cats, giraffes and monkeys. The zoo was clean and well maintained throughout. The mini train ride was a hit with my granddaughter. The gift shop was well stocked and had a variety of... More

If your neighbors were to get together and fund a zoo for your neighborhood this is likely what it would look like. It was tiny, not much embellishment. I suppose the few animals they had were taken care of. Might be a good attraction for locals but worth missing for those visiting the area.
