I hadn't been since the new addition and while my favorite part is still in the old mansion, I must admit the expansion has made it possible to see so much more art. Either plan a longer visit or take two trips to see everything!

I went here with a group of teachers on an NEH seminar. What a nice surprise..lots of western artists, as well as an outstanding travelling exhibit. Even a few impressionists. Great cafeteria and gift shop. Crocker house also a nice tour..lots of history.

Many people consider Sacramento to be a small town, but it is really a medium sized city if one takes the county population into account. Its nicknames reflect this outlook: "Cowtown" and "Sacatomato." Yet, the Crocker Art Museum can compare to those in many major cities. It has historically important pieces as well as influential contemporary art. Many travelling shows... More

Let me start by saying that the museum appears to be a traditional cookie cutter museum .... until ....... you venture through and wander into the original museum with AMAZING woodwork, including stairwells and objects d'art. The artist who was on display in the regular part of the museum is a skilled artist with exceptional skills in painting light in... More

An excellent art museum that connects the original Crocker Home to a stunning modern building on the river promenade. Plan to spend some time here, depending on what you like.

i have visited this museum , over the years, every time i go to Sacramento. This last time, to the Lutrec and cronies special show, was just fabulous. - Right up there with any other art museum on the planet! i especially appreciate the handicapped accessibility of the layout. I didn't expect much from this museum. To tell you the truth, I am not an art person but I was blown away with the artwork. I thought what the heck it's affordable and I was looking to entertain myself for a couple of hours before dinner. Needless to say I loved it. WOW! What an awakening to the world of... More

This museum is very California-oriented. They have a great selection of early California pieces. They also carry very interesting traveling exhibits such as The Great Migration (Jacob Lawrence); Picasso; Rodin; Frida Kahlo; and great photograph exhibits by renowned US photographers past and present. In addition, they have a special art section for kids, and jazz Thursdays in the summer, and... More

I have revisited Crocker Art Museum several times and always with the same person - and we have never gotten bored and always wished for more time and feet that didn't tire so quickly. While there were some displays and pieces we recognized, there is always something new to explore, discuss, and appreciate. The giftshop didn't "wow" me, but I've... More

Crocker is a gem and we Sacramentans are very fortunate to have the museum in our community. The permanent collection is diverse and the rotating exhibits appeal to a wide audience. Additionally, the museums art education programs and other special events add a great entertainment dimension to Sacramento.
