So much to learn about California history. Try to go when 4th grade students are reenacting the gold rush period. Hands on learning, children dressed in costumes hard at work. Beautiful park,, well maintained in the center of midtown near multiple good eateries.

Enactments are't on all the time, so check the www and make sure you visit when they are being performed, it really brings history alive for both kids and adults.

We spent 2.5 hours touring the restored fort and learning of the events and people that propelled Sacramento into the limelight. The motion detecting audio narratives are a neat feature and the orientation videos gave a compelling story of the local history, guardians and villains....More
