My family and I have today visited Sutter Fort, on paying our entrance fee we were not informed today was a “training day “. We found the staff extremely rude and ignored questions we asked. When I looked inside the bakery the people inside actually...More

Surprisingly disappointing experience here. The staff were rude (multiple staff in multiple ways including language uses and how spoken to, and shutting doors on people). Felt as though we were not welcome for the whole experience.

This is the reconstructed fort, but that reconstruction was done in the nineteenth century so it's almost as historic as the original.

Who knew that although gold was discovered nearby that Sutter had such and adventurous life. I visited Sutter's Fort as a child and was in Sacramento for a few days. So we went to visit the Fort. $5 admission for a self guided tour. There...More

The state historic site is in a gentrifying neighborhood well east of downtown Sacramento. This is a replica of the original fort where the first settlers in the area lived and worked. You can do a nice self-guided tour listening to recorded passages about the...More

Enjoyed learning about the history of Captain Sutter and the role that he played in settling Sacramento. The fort is a place to visit to see what is still standing along with the organization and daily life the settlers had. There is a fee to...More

There was a lot of history covered in this park through a self-guided tour of the facility. Metered parking on the street costs $1.75/hour. If you don't linger too much over the exhibits, you can cover everything in an hour. Admission to the park is...More

There was a good amount to see at the Fort and I found the information very educational. The map of the fort that was provided was helpful in ensuring I saw it all in a logical order.

Although only the central building is original the restoration of the outer wall and accompanying buildings has been completed in a competent and realistic way, the information and displays are informative and the whole experience is quite immersive.

The fort has always been amazing. Great to teach kids about California History. Really well laid out and their events are really impressive as well.

There is metered parking on the street on most sides of the fort. We didn't have any trouble finding a spot and we were there mid-day in July.

We brought in water bottles and had no comments. I do not know if food or OTHER beverages are restricted. I believe the Indian Museum next door restricts food and drinks so it may apply as well. I will check.
