Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made.

The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. This grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards.

Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

Wine is a matter of opinion, and, while fine, this was not our favorite. However, the farm setting of Frog's Leap winery is everything that is the Napa Valley. It was lush, colorful, and dreamy, and the tasting tour was really fun. A great stop.

Reservations made by concierge prior to our arrival. Flights of various wines served and discussed with staff. Refills provided free of charge and there was no requirement to purchase wine by everyone in the party. Lovely grounds and surroundings. Did not buy wine due to travel restrictions and it can be bought at home. Special setting that is quite enjoyable

they had a wonderful wine and we joined their club but they also do a sparkling water tasting which is very enjoyable if not a drinker. There is a chartichrue of cheese and crackers that is an extra attraction.

What a fabulous setting.....and some great wine ! We booked the Signature Seated Tasting and it was lovely. When you arrive you are shown to table in the garden or on the patio - the views are out onto the gardens and vines and are truly lovely. The somelier then arrives and pours you four wines describing each as they... More

My husband and I had a tasting here and were very happy with our experience. Our server was very knowledgeable about the winery and the wines. The wine was some of the best overall and the view from the patio was great. We were able to walk around a bit while we finished our tasting. The winery provides a bit... More

We did the guided tour of the grounds and it was the most fun we had on our trip to Napa Valley! Our tour guide Seth was amazing - so knowledgeable - and he made sure to keep our wine glasses full throughout the tour. We even made a side stop in the fresh produce barn to have some fresh... More

A must-visit winery when you're in the area is Frog's Leap. The tasting deck out back is a great place to taste their wines. The staff is very nice and helpful. The story of Frog's Leap and its owner and very interesting. We couldn't resist but join the wine club, since the wines were also very good and reasonably priced.

My family had a reserved seating and it was a delightful wine tasting on Frog's Leap side porch, surrounded by gorgeous florals and foliage in their spectacular gardens. The staff was personable and very knowledgable about the history of the winery and the four wines we tasted. The tasting included a tray with cheeses, crackers, Marcona almonds and dried fruit,... Out of the 10+ , wineries visited this one had my favorite wines, even the zin was good. We had a reserved seating and enjoyed our tasting on their lovely porch overlooking the lovely gardens. The plate of cheeses, nuts and crackers was a nice touch and helped to cleanse palettes between tastes. Staff was very nice and personable. I... More

Our party of four enjoyed our tasting in their lovely garden. We had children with us who enjoyed playing in the garden while the adults tasted. Frogs Leap provides crayons and activity sheets, as well as organic grape juice for the kids. You need a reservation for this place, which we were able to get for the same day we... More
