Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made.

The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. This grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards.

Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

We had an incredible visit to Frog's Leap and its now one of my favorite wines to look out for in stores. I highly recommend the tour vs tasting as for the same price as the tasting you get to tour the beautiful grounds, see how the wines are made and try a number of options ending with drinking wine... Our second annual visit to taste and wander the property was lovely. Evan served us and really made the experience special. So special, we actually bought 1/2 a case this year - and some estate produced peach conserves! Thank you, Evan!!

This is probably one of my favourite wineries. The place is stunning and the wines are incredible. Not to mention that the staff is so nice.

My husband and I loved this winery! We enjoyed the small, cozy vibe and could have stayed all day on the porch overlooking the beautiful gardens. If you are a fan of "fixer upper" on hgtv, this place looks like it was designed by Chip and Joanna! We liked the wines very much and the price point; we bought 4... More

I loved the style of the house and grounds. They have beautiful gardens - full of produce as well as flowers. Fantastic barn and ivy. The perfect place for a relaxing tasting. We didn't have lunch on the porch but it looked amazing.

Frog's Leap was one of the top vineyards we visited during our stay. The atmosphere was relaxing, employees knowledgeable and HELPFUL, and seating enjoyable. Our wine server was very knowledgable and accommodating to our tastes and desire to have quiet time in between tastes. Thank you. Would recommend to all!

We had a lovely afternoon visit. We did the "Garden Tasting" at 230pm (US$20 each), which was good value as we tried the 4 wines on offer and had a tasting of the Sauvignon Blanc as an extra treat. We were not able to get on the guided tour (which was fully booked) but the lovely ladies serving the wine... More

Reservations are strongly recommended if visiting this vineyard. A lovely vineyard tucked away in Rutherford. Tastings are on their "porch" with beautiful views of their gardens. If you don't have reservations you can also do tastings on their very large and cozy community table and finish off your wine while strolling through their gardens or nearby vineyard. If you have... Frog's Leap Winery is incredibly beautiful and in a breath taking natural setting. We were fortunate enough to be seated on the outdoor porch/patio area which gave us the opportunity to look out at the gardens and orchards while we enjoyed their lovely wine. Our tasting was very generous and included cheese, crackers, almonds and some jam made at the... More
