Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made.

The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. This grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards.

Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

Marie made our day by being so inviting and introducing us to Paul who has been joining the harvest team for the last 23 Yrs. Between the 2 of them and there willingness to share their exciting adventures with us, the sunshine, the beautiful landscape, and really wonderful wine, we could not have had a more perfect afternoon. The story... More

Probably not the best place for wine snobs, but if you are looking for a nice place to relax and throw back some very reasonably priced wine, this is your place. We really enjoyed our time at Frog's Leap, which was especially good at accommodating our large group. They had a large table ready for us and we all enjoyed... More

Stopped here without an appointment despite the sign but they were ok with that. Drank wine out in the backyard near the barn. People were attentive and friendly, wines were decent. A worker there offered to give a quick tour of the wine barrels and showed us how they crush the grapes.

We did the tour and tasting. It is all very friendly, relaxed and full of amusing anecdotes on the history of the winery and its owners. If you like their wine, you will love their winery.

Every reservation has their own private table with an incredible view of the grounds. We arrived early two hours early, and they were so accomodating, arranged for us to sit at the farm table. The wines are excellent. We walked all around the grounds while the harvest was happenng. Highly recommend this place!

This winery is beautiful and their wines are delicious. We did the garden tasting which included 4 wines. It worked perfectly for us with our 1.5 year old son. We were able to roam around the gardens, see the chickens, farm, and still enjoy our wine. Not only is it family friendly but also dog friendly. We left our dog... More

Beautiful tasting house, yummy wines, a very relaxing tasting experience on the porch. Loved the Chardonnay and the Cab. Will be keeping these in our wine stock at home!

We had an incredible visit to Frog's Leap and its now one of my favorite wines to look out for in stores. I highly recommend the tour vs tasting as for the same price as the tasting you get to tour the beautiful grounds, see how the wines are made and try a number of options ending with drinking wine... Our second annual visit to taste and wander the property was lovely. Evan served us and really made the experience special. So special, we actually bought 1/2 a case this year - and some estate produced peach conserves! Thank you, Evan!!
