We were a group of 18 and Shannon gave us a very informative tour of her family vineyard and then a wine tasting. The winery is situated under a steep hillside and is just breathtaking and we toured the caves. They’re also making a wine that is sold and goes to support philanthropy, onemind, which I loved. She also told us a fun fact, the house her parents live in is the house from The Parent Trap.

I have read nothing but good reviews about the Staglin Family Vineyard, but wanted to share my experience visiting the area. I was travelling with my daughter (26 years old!) whose all time favourite movie as a child was Parent Trap. We simply wanted a glimpse of it (ie the Staglin Family
vineyard) and a photo opportunity. We understood that the winery visits were by appointment only, no problem, we pulled up outside the property on the public road and jumped out the car for a snap. We were verbally abused by a neighbour opposite the vineyard, shouting from her window to 'get out the area, you're not welcome, go away'! It was an extremely unpleasant and disappointing experience. So my advice is that if you are visiting for the same reason we did, don't park near the house opposite the Vineyard! Again, I emphasise, this review is no reflection on the vineyard.

Staglin winery sit beautifully on the foothills of Rutherford, CA. The overall property is pristine and beautiful. We were greeted by Jaime Orozco with a beautiful 2014 Salus Estate Chardonnay as we toured their tasting room and cave.
As we retreated from the cave tour to the tasting room, It dawned on me that I would want to live in Napa.
As we all settled in the tasting room and marveled over the view of the vineyards, we had the pleasure of tasting Staglin 2013 Salus Cabernet Sauvignon, 2010 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and 2013 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. Very sexy!!!

My wife and I visited Staglin Family Vineyard by appointment. The lovely tasting hostess, Becky met us on the way in with a glass of beautiful Chardonnay.Staglin is well known for Cabernet, but their Chardonnays are wonderful and will stand toe to toe with anyone's Chardonnay. The view from the tasting room is a must see. Their winemaking facility is in a cave and is top of the line. The grounds are all planted with Mediterranean flora. The smell of Lavender and Rosemary fills the air, and the Tuscan Poppys add a beautiful red color. The vineyards are all natural right down to the bluebird boxes. The bluebirds are encouraged to live there for natural insect control. We were lucky enough to meet Shannon and Shari Staglin while we were there. Amazing people! The Vineyards exude class. The wines come in second to no ones. Our hostess, Becky, was amazing and made us feel right at home. We will definitely be back and I encourage everyone to make an appointment and see this fabulous vineyard. They also are major contributors to Mental Health studies. This family does it right. Go visit. You won't be sorry.

If you were lucky enough to be able to tour the stagnant family vineyards, I highly recommend it.
This is where some seriously good wines are made. The tasting and tour were very elegant, just like the wines.

Beautiful property, average tour, good but VERY pricey wines. I would recommend Hall Winery over this one; better tour and the wines are well-priced and EXCELLENT

Remember the Napa Valley house in The Parent Trap movie with Lindsay Lohan? This winery is on that property. But you will not be able to visit it (The Stechter House), as the new owners live in it and it's hidden in the trees.
What you will get for your $50 is a very informative tour, starting out on a tiled terrace decorated with pots of flowers and a view of the vineyards. There, someone will hand you your first of many glasses.
You'll get an overview of climate, business, sustainable agriculture and wine-making, and you can easily ask questions because the groups are kept under approx. ten people.
The other 2 couples in our group were very sophisticated, yet friendly. By the end of the tour, seated at a long polished wood table in the cave, the atmosphere was similar to that of an elegant dinner party.
As in all tours, the intent of the owner is that you will buy, and award-winning Staglin wine is pricey. But they have your $50 already and that should take off the pressure.
Do yourself a favor while in wine country, and make a reservation for this special tour to balance out the big, crowded winery tours that don't charge a fee.

This beautifully decorated vineyard and tasting room is first class all around. By appointment only, we had the best time here in their wide open, private tasting room that over looks the vineyards and to the other mountains and neighboring wineries.
Leading our tour was JAIME OROZCO, he is the wine expert here with the knowledge, passion, and thrive for fine wines and growing vineyards. He is patient, answers all questions, and we had an awesome time with Jaime.
Overall, we tasted four Wines that was over the top Delish!!! The tour of the cave was beautiful!!! The machinery on the grounds were massive!!! The large table tasting room can easily accommodate up to 10 people comfortably. Say Hello to WOODY, the wine dog, who loves to lay out where ever he likes!!!
We love this place!!!
Enjoy!!!
Cheers!!!

Hi, if we were to book just the tasting (still $75 pp in May 2019?) would we be able to have a wander in the grounds by ourselves?

Hi, I was wondering what they charge per person to taste here?
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,
Thank you for your inquiry! The Tour and Tasting fee is $100 per person and the experience lasts about 90 minutes. We also offer a tasting without the tour which is about 60 minutes and is $75 per person. Both experiences are hosted privately and include a sampling of five wines. We are open by appointment only Monday through Friday. If you would like more information, please feel free to contact us directly via the visit us page on our website. We would welcome the opportunity to host you for a visit!
Cheers,
Lindsay

Is there a tour without the cost of wine tasting (for non-drinkers) who are simply fans of this property because of its presence in the Parent Trap movie? My husband and I loved that movie as kids and still watch it with the same excitement! Thank you in advance for any helpful response.

So sorry, Unfortunately they do not host only tours. They are limited to how many guests they see and it is a private estate. They can do just tasting without the tour. They do get plenty of requests where guests just want to come on the property because of the movie. Tastings are done by appointment only. It is a really exclusive winery, hope you understand. Cheers!!!

Would someone pls share how much the tour costs per person, and how long it is? Thanks in advance!
