Very pleasant experience at Rutherford Hill. Beautiful drive and beautiful picnic area. Enjoyed the wine so much decided to join the wine club, the first wine club ever joined. Can't wait to receive the first shipment!

I have always had a special place in my heart for Rutherford Hill. I am a member of the wine club and enjoy the wines throughout the year. I was here in fall and in December and particularly like the 2010 Angel's Peak, the 2008 Devil's Peak and the 2012 Malbec. The 2012 Cardinal's Peak also is outstanding.

We wanted to visit the winery for a tasting and picnic in the special picnic area which was recommended by the Napa tourist center. The picnic area was empty and we asked the attendant for a table. He explained that it is mandatory to bye wine from the winery for the consumption in the picnic area. We choosed two bottles... More

The high spot is the Auberge du Soleil hotel on way up (our choice next stay instead of Villagio in Yountville). You expect a nice view at top of hill at winery: WRONG! Average, slightly snooty service, people trying to sell stuff in tasting room, expensive tasting, lack of client interest and care. We are wine buyers, so surprised by... More

Specialize in Merlot wines. We prefer more hearty wines, but we bought a bottle of Sav Blanc. Cab was good too.

As you drive up the short road from Silverado Trail, you notice the huge wooden tasting room. We enjoyed the cave tour with wine tasting and education. The wine was good and the cool temperature cave was great on a hot day.

We did not do a tour or tasting. We stopped by in between vineyards for an impromptu visit. We had our own lunch. We bought a bottle there and ate a fabulous picnic lunch overlooking the valley. The views are great up there. We went in July so it was probably easier to do this. Highly recommend in the offseason... More

My friend and I visited Rutherford Hill on a warm day in June. It was great to sit outside. I really like our docent, Darlene. She offered to pour for us outside so we did not have to get up and trot back and forth from the wine bar to the patio. We took our time and did not feel... More

Our first wine tour, so we don't have comparison data (yet). The hour-long tour--which was mostly in the very dramatic caves where the wines are aged--included lots of interesting information about the process of wine making, the characteristics of various grapes, even the toasting of the barrels. (Not joking about that.) Be prepared for an unabashed upsell at the end:... More

Definitely worth stopping in for a wine tour (not just a tasting!). Pretty views from the property & VERY knowledgable & friendly staff. Jimmie, our tour guide, was awesome!
