You can't miss the stunningly mammoth stone-carved ivy-covered winery that hosts Beaulieu Vineyard in Rutherford along Highway 29 in the heart of wine country. In fact, so noteworthy is it it is the second oldest winery in the entire region creating the boldest Cabernet Sauvignon's...More

What a pleasant afternoon! We purchased the $30 per person tasting (4 wines) online, but when we got there I thought that sharing one of those with my wife followed by a shared $50 reserve Cabernet tasting (5 wines) might give us a better overview....More

Help me Choose One More Winery (3 Replies)
We'll be visiting Napa Valley in 10 days, we have reservations to visit Hall at Rutherford (10:00) and Castello di Amerosa (4:30) and would love to visit one more in between. Please help me choose ONE at would be best to see views/scenery/architecture: Envy Wines Grgich Hills Estate Barnett Vineyards Beaulieu Vineyard Charles Krug Winery Beringer Vineyards

Out of your list I would probably choose Barnett Vineyards. Stunning location. Grgich and Beaulieu are both on Hwy 29 and I don't find the view or architecture to be remarkable. Although their wines are very good. Beringer and Charles Krug have both recently gone through major renovations of historic buildings on their sites. The Rhine House Mansion at Beringer is stunning; incredible stain glass windows, hand carved paneling, original hardwood floors with inlay. Envy I am not familiar...More

probable winery itinerary & questions (6 Replies)
So my husband will be there for 2 1/2 days (2 nights). These are the wineries he'd like to visit: Robert Mondavi Domaine Carneros Joseph Phelps Berringer BV (Beaulieu vineyard) and 1 other. We're staying at the Marriott in Napa. Now how many tours do you think is needed? I guess some of these do tastings and some only do tours. But honestly not sure i can do tours at all of them. So any in particular you'd recommend? Also where are good places in between for lunch? ...More

You can only taste at about 3 wineries per day if you also want to have lunch. Most tours/tastings start at 10 am and end around 5 pm. You will also want to work your way up or down the valley, so you can look at the locations on Google maps to plan your trip. However, I suggest rather than visiting only large wineries, you take in some of the smaller wineries also. O'Brien Estate, just north of the Marriott is highly rated on Trip Advisor (#2 in Napa Valley) as is Hendry and Fontanella. This...More

Don't hear a lot about Beaulieu vineyard, anyone been and any recommendations on this winery

Response fromJnapawineguy|
Well it's located right on the main highay in Rutherford. Its a more commercial winery and a large producer, a lot of the wine they make is from grapes outside of the Napa valley. But their George De Latore room serves the higher end wines. The tasting room is located in the middle of the parking lot so nothing really special. Just so much better stuff in Napa. Typically this place is crowded with tour bus groups and such. If you go I recommend the extra money for the George De Latore room
