Overview
More
Grgich Hills Estate is an iconic Napa Valley winery, consistently producing world-class wines. Vintner Hall of Fame inductee Miljenko "Mike" Grgich first earned world-wide recognition when the Chardonnay he crafted won the 1976 Paris Tasting, beating the best of France. Mike then partnered with Austin Hills to open their family-owned-and-operated winery in 1977. Committed to natural winegrowing and sustainability, we farm our five estate vineyards without artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides, rely on wild yeast fermentation and use our passion and art to handcraft food-friendly, balanced and elegant wines.

The grounds outside the winery are really nice to stroll thru. We had a private tasting since and got fabulous background information about the family and the wine making process.

Most informative and interesting, found out the "Hills" part of the name comes from the partner owner of Hills Coffee many years ago, never knew! Private tasting was over the top and was complimentary since we are a wine club member, highly recommend!

Really wonderful tour experience with Maya (hope I spelled that right). The winery has a great history, top-notch wines, and generous pours. This is absolutely a must-try on your winery list, no matter how limited your time in Napa.

We had never visited the Grgich Estate, though we have had the wine before. The tasting room (general one) was lovely-- even with a full crowd. Our attendant was knowledgeable, attentive, fun and poured a couple of "bonus" wines for us. The wines were TOP...More

Chardonnay Miljenko's Selection 2013 was very tasty. Essence Sauvignon Blanc 2014 is another good one. The reds are Petit Verdot Miljenko's Selections 2012, Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2009, Cabernet Sauvignon Yountville Selection 2011, and Violetta Late Harvesy 2012. We stayed there a little over an hour. Tasting the wines and learning of Mike Grgich history in Bottle Shock ( beating all French wines in blind taste test 20+ years ago !) Hope you enjoy!

Sorry but we are not allowed to sell food as part of our permit. We do offer wine and cheese pairings as part of an educational seminar. Call us at the winery @707-963-2784 for more details.
