Grgich Hills Estate is an iconic Napa Valley winery, consistently producing world-class wines. Vintner Hall of Fame inductee Miljenko "Mike" Grgich first earned world-wide recognition when the Chardonnay he crafted won the 1976 Paris Tasting, beating the best of France. Mike then partnered with Austin Hills to open their family-owned-and-operated winery in 1977. Committed to natural winegrowing and sustainability, we farm our five estate vineyards without artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides, rely on wild yeast fermentation and use our passion and art to handcraft food-friendly, balanced and elegant wines.

Their Chardonnay is creamy and delicious. The tasting room is small, but cozy. Although they're a little pricey, it's worth a stop to taste the best of Napa Chardonnay.

This is a favorite stop of ours! We drive up from the South Bay, and the wines here always set the bar very high for anywhere else we try along the way. Great variety of whites and reds, especially for Chardonnay and Cabernet. I'd recommend going early in the day because even at 10:30am it starts to fill up. Looking... More

Wines were OK but not great. Not much info offered and no tour of facilities. Cute place, but not worth the stop.

Dear Shalimar, Thank you for your visit and your review. Given our recent strong reviews from national wine publications, we were surprised that you found the wine just “OK.” We’re not sure what you mean by “not much info offered and no tour facilities” since we have a large historic display that reaches to the ceiling and it is the... Honestly, I don't even bother to visit many wineries anymore. The wine at Grgich is my favorite in all the land. The facility and land is beautiful and well kept. The staff is courteous and knowledgable. I live all the way across the country in Maine and I joined the wine club because It is hands down the best. Next... More

We visit Grgich each year we visit Napa and it always impresses. Their attention to detail and farming practices are outstanding. Sit outside under an umbrella and sip until your hearts content. You can't miss here. Try the desert wine - it's one of the best you will ever taste.

Really enjoyed this tour. Phillip was wonderful. His knowledge and passion for the industry was neat to experience. The Mike Grgich story is the American Dream. Very warm and friendly atmosphere.

Mike H. introduced us to a variety of the wineries finest wines with great knowledge of the history and techniques used to produce these fine wines. A bonus was our host, Paul Kaump, a Grgich wine pourer , whose knowledge added to the ambiance of the tasting area. A "must go to" winery in Napa.

Another Winery that caters to the masses. We bought two Zins to waive the cost of the tasting. Nothing interesting about the wines. Just a mass production of wines for people who know little about wines.

Thank you for your visit. We were surprised that you dismissed a winery that has been making award-winning wine for almost 40 years as ”making wine for the masses.” Over the years we have actually reduced our production in order to only make estate wines so we can control the process from pruning to picking to processing the grapes. We’ve... More
