We had a good time drinking wine at Riggers Loft Wine Company in Richmond The location is perfect with nice views of the bay. They also had good music we enjoyed while there.

Eclectic mix of a wine maker at the end of a pier. Many excellent wines to taste. light foods are available. Wide open spaces. Lots of elbow room. Some sofa, leather chairs to sit on. Be sure to check your map before you start and/or use cell-GPS services to find it. We much enjoyed several wines! Some folks had kids in tow, so doable as they have elbow room to run around a bit.

The adventure begins getting there. Riggers Loft is at the end of the pier in a huge warehouse. Dogs are welcome, as are wine lovers. Flights of wine are available for a fee which is waived when you purchase a bottle of their delicious wine. Food is available from caterers who cook the food on the site. Speaking of which, one cannot get a more perfect view of the San Francisco Bay than from this location. It is an amazing combination of beauty and pleasure.

I planned a special intimate birthday party for 7 there on a Friday night. The schedule said there was jazz from 6 to 9. I've heard the music there before, it's quiet enough to talk over and relaxing. Well, not my night! The winery was having a private party - roped off half the place - and, despite my inquiries said to come anyway, the room was open. Yes it was open it you like drunken party noise for a few hours. It got worse and worse. Horrible as we couldn't even speak over it. Needless to say, after spending a couple of hundred wasted bucks, we left. Why didn't the manager tell me just not to come? $$$? of course, it's all based on money. Duh.

What a find! Four of us, including my almost 100 year old Mother, decided to try a new place and we had the best of times. It takes some patience to get there but it is worth the slow drive to the end of the pier and offers the most magnificent view of the San Francisco Bay. We were greeted by Star and Victor poured our wine samples, all of which were wonderful. R&B makes the best Sauvignon Blanc I have ever tasted, as is the Romance of the Vine, a Bordeaux blend. We were joined by Kevin Brown, the wine maker, who is charming and engaging as well as a great wine maker. The afternoon was filled with great conversation, wonderful wines and a spectacular view. We shall return for more.
