Los Angeles has some great piers. The Redondo Beach Pier is one of them. It is right at Kings Harbor in Redondo Beach off the 1. There are a few ways to get there, just stay near the ocean in Redondo Beach and watch the signs.
It is a large pier, really two in one. It seems like a big circle. Parking is easy in their lot and the prices to park are fair. There is also some street parking but mind the signs, the tickets are expensive and will ruin your day.
It is great there in the day time, but my grandson and I prefer just near sunset and into the night. We can get parked, watch the sunset right from the beach, which is accessible or from the pier. It is super pretty.
The pier has lots to do for everyone. There are tourist places for shirts and souvenirs'. You can get a real pearl in an oyster. There is a place for photo taking and there is an arcade.
The pier has so many places to eat from cheap eats to some great fine dinning restaurants. There is Hot Dog on a Stick and so many fast food fish places where you get your food from an outdoor counter and eat at the tables provided. They even have fast food Thai and it is good.
We love their fine dinning eateries. Tony's on the Pier is one of the oldest on the pier and it is old style seafood with an Italian flare, it is great. You can also eat Mexican food at El Torito if you want, we don't care for it, but you might. They have a nice bar.
As to bars they have those as well and at night they have live bands. The bands are usually on the weekends.
The area around the pier is lovely and there is so much to drive to. The Manhattan Beach Pier is nearby as well.
Redondo Beach has a lot to offer and you will find something you love.

If you are staying in Redondo, or driving through- def. stop here and check out the shops and restaurants. Lots of sea food options, bar food and ice cream. The pier offers beautiful views of the ocean and Redondo beach. If you are a biker- I recommend biking this area because bike paths are available throughout the pier.

There are lots of shops to explore. Lots of places to eat…. from fine dining to cheap eats. There are also various bars with local bands playing. Lots of fresh fish markets to take the local catch home. Usually there are individual musicians or performers entertaining the crowds. Beautiful view at sunset. Lots of young families are there and the place felt safe.
Unfortunately, the pier and the surrounding areas looks really worn down. The appearance of the buildings make them look dated and run down. On top of all that, it was quite dirty.

I'm not surprised how busy it was on a beautiful Sunday. We rode our bicycles on the Strand and stopped by to check out what the pier had to offer. There were many people enjoying the weather and visiting the many businesses that were open. Fishing is a very popular past time at this pier but I'm not sure that the fisherman were lucky in catching any fish.

If you aren't into diversity, you won't like it. It's a close to being in a foreign seaport as it gets. Outstanding Quality Seafood at several locations. Long clean beach. Often see Sea Lions, dolphins, occasionally a whale or two.
LOTS of parking, lots of walking on a semi circle pier. Shops all along the peir. Alcohol served at some of the restaurants. Two levels of places to stop at. As good of a people watching area as there is. The diversity of the people you see is simply amazing. Large marina attached to the Pier. Bike path goes for 22 miles in the South Bay and it is near thrSouthern end at Redondo. You can surf, play volleyball, just lay out in the sun right next to the pier. You will also see many many fisherman using the pier at all times. Pelicans frequent the area, most of the time. Very safe secure area.

I had a beautiful relaxing day on the beach . Bought some souvenirs and a churro . Can't wait to come back !! The pier is incredible and so photogenic, the water is frigging deliciously cold .. yeah I'm into that . Parking across the street is 1.75 an hour versus 10.00 .. I just needed 3 hours to recharge my soul before flying back home tomorrow .. california don't owe me nothing baby .. thank you for the hospitality ♡♡♡

With many pier options, we were not sure which to visit (on limited time). The Redondo Beach Pier has it all - plus plenty of opportunities for seal sitings! It’s clean, safe and great food options. Will definitely visit again.

nice place to watch seals and walk. parking is available on the pier.
it is safe to walk with 3 years old if you consider watching the sea and seals by the bench .(still needs to be careful)

Redondo Beach Pier is the best Pier in Los Angeles. Some days are more crowded than others and some of the restaurants' have a wait, but just make reservations for those great restaurants, like Tony's. it is never so crowded that you can't walk with ease. It is just so much fun.
This pier is large and there is so many things to see. There are trinket shops and fine dinning. You can get fresh fish to take home or eat at a stand that has some great food, there are many of them.
The views are wonderful. There are plenty of places to sit and just relax.
There is a fee to park, be it at the meters or in the parking structure. You will find a place.
You can also get down to the beach and walk on the sand or go for a swim. There are others things to do nearby, within walking distance. You can ride a glass bottom boat, rent water gear or rent a bike (no bikes on the pier, but there are plenty of places right at the entrance to ride.
You will just love this place.

We live near the pier. Although we do go a lot we would say it’s average. Older restaurants and shops along the pier, old arcade and games. The parking lot at night has had some issues regarding safety so be careful. There are paddle boats and bikes you can rent to see the sea lions which is fun but be careful the sea lions have a lot of flies and if you get too close they stay with you until you paddle quite a bit away! Various restaurants and activities average cleanliness factor.

How bad is the tar on the beach? can you see it to avoid it? Is it rare or common to see seals in this area?
Written March 15, 2019
I have never seen tar on this beach, in many years of walking on it. Sea lions are VERY common. They swim up to the pier on the side where people fish.
Dolphins are common here, too. I’ve seen them mostly later in the afternoon, swimming close to shore.
Sunsets tend to be spectacular, with Palos Verdes peninsula on the left and Catalina Island 20-plus miles offshore. On a clear day, you can also see Santa Barbara Island, 50 or so miles to the west.

Yes, I am pretty sure there are - I was there 2 weeks ago and I could hear them from Baleen’s (great restaurant near the sea wall BTW :-). Safe travels! Cheers, G

I heard that we are not able to swim. Is the
This true?
Written June 14, 2017
Yes, you can swim on the beach, on the south side of the pier..You cannot swim in between the 50 yd section of the pier because of the rocks and pilings. And at high tide there is no sand..The water goes right up to the rocks..1000s of people swim on the beach right next to the pier on hot summer days..
