Interesting history about the rail station in Poway which was never actually used. The railroad companies, the San Diego Central and the Southern Pacific, proposed a line from Poway to extend toward Ramona and Julian. But the plans failed to materialize due to the railway companies deciding on a lack of sufficient business and the unfeasibility of the valley’s terrain.... More

Great energy and a step in time back to the days of the locomotive train museum and working locomotive. Nice adventure for the kids. MUST eat at the Old Hamburger Factory there on the grounds. On the weekends expect a moderately sized farmers market. Trip worth the time.

Take a trip back in time - this peaceful park tucked away in between midland and community roads has a great farmers market on Saturdays, train rides, and some beautiful scenery for picnics, family events, or just relaxing under the amazing oak trees.

This park located in the center of Poway, CA, is great for kids and adults alike. For kids it has a old vintage railroad driven by a steam locomotive. It takes around the park and it is great fun for kids. It has big open grassy area for kids to play. Lot of shade trees for picnicking. During summer they... More

The city of Poway acquired this historic home, relocated it to Old Poway Park and restored it beautifully. Wonderful volunteer docents will walk you through the building and its educational and entertaining exhibits. Small suggested admission charge.

This is a sleeper. In one place, all within short walking distances, where else can you find: 1. A rustic restaurant 2. A local history museum 3. A classic small park with a band stand; folks get married there 4. A stream 5. A running steam engine 6. An historic home with tours of last-century life 7. A meeting hall... More

This park is awesome. They have different engines that run on different weekend days for the trail. The steamer is my favorite and my kids.

Great park to have a picnic in or just walk around. It has a creek that runs through it. A very peaceful park setting. People use it to take pictures in, have a picnic, walk their dog, bring their kids or just sit and enjoy it. It also has a train that is popular during the holidays and weekends and... More

The Old Poway Park has many family events during the year. I enjoy going to the music concerts held in the gazebo during the Summer. The concerts are on Sundays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the schedule appears in the Poway Today publication, which comes out quarterly. We enjoy packing a picnic dinner and sitting with friends while... More
