Pokuland
About
The Pokuland theme park on the borders of Voru and Polva Counties was created after a children’s book Pokumaa by Edgar Valter and after its main characters – Pokus. The prototypes of Pokus in nature are sedge tussocks. The world of Pokus begins from the visitor's centre – Pokuhall – that looks like a twin-Poku and surprises guests with its unique stairways, passages and interior design elements. In the Pokuhall visitors can see original illustrations and oil paintings by Edgar Valter, get to know his creative work and make Pokus themselves. There are many other activities and events, such as study trails to introduce local nature, village swings to take a ride as well as picnic and camping sites.

First of all you have to ask yourself something like: is Kaytek the Wizard still my favourite book and would I give out money for visiting Branko Copic 's theme park? Exactly! Who? What? Where? Why...? So, if you don't know the theme or the local writer, then is Pokuland most likely for you boring as hell. Just another outdoor theme park with some wierd statues, old wooden farm houses, some animals and a playground, like there are hundreds of similar places everywhere. You have to hike around the forest a lot, so you have to take time to see all. The road to Pokuland is a crappy gravel road. So nothing for a hard core car lover.
The main house is build near of the road, but the drunk architect planned the parking lots several hundred meters away from the main building. So you walk like 20 minutes through a forest of nothingless a donating blood to the local mosquitos, just to buy a ticket.
After all the service was nice, everything was made with quality and care, but still it's more for locals only.

Ok so maybe I'm still a kid inside by Pokumaa is absolutely a place for those with imagination and a kid inside :)

Edgar Valter was a fantastic artist who was able to teach people how to really "see" what they were looking upon. He brings nature to life in a detail and imagination difficult to parallel.

Pokumaa has a fantastic collection of buildings based on his characters called "poku's" the were essentially grass tufts brought to life :)

In those buildings is a fantastic art collection and various amazing activities for young and old.

A short walk away along the trail is a collection of home farm animals and a pancakery :)

Go there with your mind open and dream :)

Also something for nature lovers :). The place is in a quiet place in the middle of the nature. Lots of room for children to run around (specially after long car drive).
