Recently four of us experienced an authentic Estonian smoke sauna to learn about the country culture and practices in a unique and wonderful way. We met the most knowledgeable practitioner, Eda at her beautiful farm. We had a delightful and fascinating experience in the sauna, moist wood heated stones, a salt scrub, mud scrub, stimulating circulation with leafy branches. Throughout the sauna, the associated folk traditions were told by Eda through stories, drumming and repeating mantras. The pond nearby provided a cooling dip (for those who want the real experience). We were also able to sample the local food and meats smoked at the farm. This was an amazing visit on our tour and is highly recommended for those interested in folk lore. The sauna is on the UNESCO list of cultural heritage due to the efforts in Eda's interest in preserving these country traditions. Plan on at least 3 hours. An unforgettable experience.

Eda is a fantastic host, the best. Sauna has to be booked before. It is a Unesco listed 3+hour experience with hot sauna, drumming session and swimming in lake. Especially nice in winter time with ice hole.

From the moment we arrived at Mooska Farm Eda was so warm and welcoming. She spend 4 hours with us explaining the traditions, purpose and history. We alternated between relaxing in the Sauna, jumping into a freezing cold lake and also relaxing with a warm cup of tea! To add to the welcoming experience there was a cat named lucky which really liked me and spend a lot of time clinging to me which just added to the great experience. Thankyou Eda for such a fantastic day. I recommend everybody should do this. Thankyou, Cherina and Kelvin.

We were gracefully welcomed by the family to their traditional smoke sauna, and afterwards dinner in the family home. Being on the UNESCO list of world heritages no one should be surprised when the old spirits are welcomed to join and the old drum is played in the dark of the sauna.
