Daniel was awesome! He knows Point Reyes National Seashore and the animals that call it home like the back of his hand. It was an excellent experience to be able to witness bobcats and coyotes hunting in the wild and owl and barn swallow fledglings being fed. So many great photo opportunities and I was very thankful for Daniel's unique insight to the land. We also had an amazing sunset and he was able to put us on a herd of tule elk at just the right time for beautiful light. Looking forward to being able to do it again sometime!

We have been on safaris to multiple countries including Africa and India. Our experiences in those safaris set a very high bar where we saw the big five and tigers. I didn't expect this local safari to be anything great. And I was wrong!

Daniel is an amazing tracker and guide. He was tireless and we were on this safari for nearly five hours without anything other than restroom breaks. He has amazing eyesight and is able to spot a bird or animal on the hills from quite a distance and only when he provides the reference topo features like a bush, fence, etc., we were able to spot the animal/bird with our binocular/camera.

As he promised, we saw bobcats. He led us on foot to get us closer to the cat, while still keeping a distance so that the animal feels safe. He pointed out so many new birds for me (Ferruginous Hawk, American Kestrel, Say's Phoebe, etc.). I have seen great horned owl before, but nothing this large.

Starting the safari at 7AM from Inverness was an excellent idea - cooler temperatures, less traffic, undisturbed animals, great soft dawn lighting for photography...

I would like to go back again and book with Daniel as I don't think I can spot the animals even if I know where they are likely to be.

I have been on many photo tours with many guides, and I can attest that Daniel is at the absolute top of the class. He has the encyclopedic knowledge and incredible spotting skills that one would expect from a top guide, but best of all is his unwavering ethics towards the animals. He knows exactly how to approach an animal without disturbing it, which is of utmost importance to me. He is a leading conservationist and is active in campaigning for the wellbeing of all animals in the park. In addition to all that, he is a fantastic host and a true ambassador for the park. His friendliness and hospitality really add to the overall experience. He always replied promptly to my many questions in advance of the trip, and all his information was detailed and accurate. I will certainly be back!

We took a 1/2-day guided trip with Frank, and had an awesome time. We spotted multiple bobcats, owls, raptors, coyotes, etc. Frank was happy to show us some great 'spots' to catch various animals on our return trips, and even suggested a follow-up location to see otters. We went the next day and managed to catch a whole group of them snacking on fish! Daniel was awesome to work with in booking and scheduling. Thanks guys for a memorable safari, even during COVID (walkie-talkies in multiple vehicles)!!

I had an amazing full day safari with Daniel. We started out early and right away we saw three different otter families foraging. We saw several coyotes including the blue eyed coyote, as well as two bobcats.  We also saw some other critters as well as majestic tule elks. We waited for grey foxes and we spent time watching a great horn owl.

I have gone on quite a few photography trips and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them, but this trip is special because it is more intimate. I respect Daniel’s sensitivity to the animals and the ethics of wildlife photography. Spending time with him, one can learn so much about animal behavior as well as lots of technical aspects of photography and conservation. Connecting with like-minded people makes these experiences much more valuable. He is considerate, mindful and a true guardian of Point Reyes and its inhabitants. I left feeling refreshed and recharged. I already planned my next visit. Thank you so much Daniel!

I have gone looking for wildlife on many trips throughout the world and Daniel Dietrich is one of the best (perhaps the best) guide I have had of the more than 20 different wildlife guides I have used! He is superb at finding various wildlife, knows the area extremely well and very responsive to the people he is guiding. Since Pt Reyes has an abundance of wildlife, how can one go wrong? So, great guide, great location. Just be sure to book early so you won't be disappointed if he is already booked.

I've hired quite a few private tours on family vacations and Daniel was at the top. From the very beginning he was interested in understanding our goals and age of our kids(teens) so he could custom tailor our safari. He even found a creative way to practice social distancing by using walkie talkies so he could still provide tour highlights while we were following him during the times that we were in our cars. The communication from beginning to end was excellent. He knows the area well and was persistent in ensuring that we experienced enough wild life viewing. The most memorable part of this safari that my family still talk about is with a doubt the elephant seals. We took some amazing pictures thanks to the added benefit of tapping into Daniels professional eye.

I have been struggling with bird photography and using long lenses. I asked Daniel if he could assist me with techniques and eduction. But we also wanted to see the wildlife and the lovely environment. Almost immediately we ran into quail on the trail. "Hit the dirt", Daniel said, and I splayed myself belly-down in the dirt and, with his guidance, took some of the best photos I ever created.

During the whole trip Daniel spotted the areas I needed to concentrate on while we were seeing a variety of bird species, an otter eating fish, Toule Elk, and a large fox. He was patient, his explanations were clear and I would highly, highly recommend taking a Safari with Daniel!

It is well worth taking a guided tour with Daniel. Our goal was to find a bobcat. I was resigned to just a nice day out after 1 1/2 hours of no luck when Daniel stopped his car and pointed to a ridge about 100o ft away. There slinking low to the ground was a bobcat hunting for gophers. We stalked her from a safe distance and got some great photos. We followed her down the slope and low and behold there was a second cat, her kitten! We felt very lucky. Mom was hunting for the kitten but she was hungry too and took the first gopher for herself. She took the safe route back through the brush to her kitten as the coyotes love to try and get a free gopher! We found another very shy male bobcat on our way back out. Daniet also took us to Kehoe trailhead to see a pair of Great Horned Owls. The female was busying herself with preening, looking very much like a large, fat cat! It was a great day out, Daniel has a keen eye. This would be great for families or anyone interested in the world around us. Thank you, Daniel!

Spending a day in Pt. Reyes with Daniel is an incredible experience to give yourself. He is so knowledgable and passionate about the area's wildlife, land and history that you'll fall in love with the place, even deeper if you already love Pt. Reyes. He's so committed and dedicated to finding wildlife and making sure you have a great experience. While some wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, we had an epic day and he never stopped working hard to find more. He models extreme respect for the wildlife and ecosystem, and is a really relaxed, fun and personable guy to spend time with. An absolute win for any tourists new to the area.
